Job Description:
The Role:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for delivering accurate financial records and supporting the month-end close process across multiple entities and currencies. Acting as a key contact for the UK team and Head Office in Chicago, the role provides technical accounting expertise, ensures compliance with policies and standards, and supports leadership through analysis and problem-solving.
Responsibilities:
· Process and review Accounts Payable data input, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies.
· Maintain and manage vendor relationships, addressing queries and resolving discrepancies.
· Prepare and post month-end journals, including multi-currency entries.
· Perform extensive month-end balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances.
· Act as the primary point of contact in the UK for queries from Head Office in Chicago.
· Conduct investigative analysis and provide financial insights as required.
· Deputise for the UK Finance Manager, supporting leadership and decision-making when needed.
Required Qualifications:
· 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience.
· Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping.
· Solid experience with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
· Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
· Proven ability to work across multiple countries and currencies.
· Familiarity with ERP/financial systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP, or similar).
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
· Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA) — completed or in progress.
· Prior experience in a multinational or global corporate environment.
Knowledge of international reporting standards (US GAAP, IFRS, or UK GAAP).
