About The Role

Our Rural Consultancy team operates from multiple offices across England, providing specialist advice to a diverse range of rural landowning clients. A key part of our service offering is property management, which includes delivering high‑quality client accounting support. We are now seeking a proactive and detail‑driven Client Finance Assistant to join the team in our Bristol office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Rural Client Finance in delivering a first‑class accounting service to both new and long‑standing clients.
  • Understand client requirements and help implement effective systems and processes.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues across the business and, where needed, directly with clients.
  • Maintain and adhere to internal policies, procedures, and financial controls to ensure accuracy and integrity of records.
  • Process financial transactions for a wide range of clients.
  • Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Verify new suppliers and prepare client payment runs.
  • Prepare accounts up to trial balance.
  • Liaise with agents to manage debtors and creditors.
  • Process rent demands and ensure tenancy information is kept up to date.
  • Manage the Tenancy Deposit bank account.
  • Prepare VAT returns.
  • Handle queries from agents and clients in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support weekly cheque banking (on a rota).
  • Participate in relevant training and ongoing professional development.

Professional & Personal Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong interest in accounting and finance.
  • AAT qualified (or currently studying), or experienced bookkeeper with equivalent background.
  • Confident using accounting software, ideally including Xero.
  • Solid understanding of core accounting principles, including VAT.
  • Strong IT skills – Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Teams.
  • Experience with client accounting is desirable but not essential.
  • Familiarity with RICS Client Money Rules is beneficial but not required.
