Job Description

The role of Management Account is critical to the success of the business as you will be responsible for processing and analysing the results of a number of different products and services. You will be required to post cost accruals and pre-payments, ensuring that all costs in the period can be matched to billed revenue. You will also be responsible for reconciling the revenue postings across the group, ensuring that all revenue accruals, deferrals and recodes are posted accurately. You will need to be able to analyse and interpret data seeking clarity from other internal departments where there are discrepancies to ensure the correct values are posted and detailed commentary is provided for any unusual movements 

 

Each day will bring different challenges, from networking and influencing colleagues, helping to support the training and development needs of the Assistant Management Accountants, integration of acquisitions and reviewing monthly results.  You will be required to work to tight deadlines so you will need to be a methodical and organised individual.

 

You will need to be able to demonstrate an excellent cross-department approach in resolving financial queries with the relevant stakeholders.  You will also be required to have good IT skills and be able to use all Microsoft applications as well as Sage 200.  Previous experience of working in a similar role is essential. 

 

You will be required to work from our Headquarters based in Solihull, however, as a business we do encourage agile working which includes working some days of the week from a home location.  If you want to further your career and join a rapidly expanding, forward-thinking business, this might be the role for you. 

 

Responsibilities (but not limited to):

 

  • Working closely with the Finance Manager, Management Accountants and the wider finance department team to ensure accurate month end preparation and reporting of the management accounts
  • Cost of sales deferrals / accruals calculation and journals
  • Revenue deferred income / accrued income calculations and journals
  • Variance analysis with commentary
  • Matching costs to revenue to ensure accurate reporting
  • Business Partnering across the organisation
  • Improving processes within the MA Team
  • Assist with key aspects of statutory and financial accounting processes
  • Intercompany reconciliations – liaising with management accountants on other entities
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Stock reconciliations
  • Period end duties and audit preparation

 

The successful candidate will have:

 

  • Previous experience in a Management Accounts role or similar is essential.
  • Newly qualified or finalist in ACCA/ACA/CIMA
  • Experience working with acquisitions is beneficial but not essential
  • Experience with Sage200 is also beneficial
  • Competent in Microsoft Office software
  • Strong Ms Excel skills i.e., VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, Pivot table and If statements
  • Good understanding of accounting principles
  • Ability to deliver both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent influencing and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Ability to prioritise and handle multiple assignments at any given time while also serving as a "go to" for all members of a large team.
  • Ability to complete complex tasks and projects quickly, react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround.
  • Must be flexible and able to commit the time required to get the job done in line with business needs.
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop and willing to go the extra mile.
  • Reliable and approachable.

Qualifications

Previous experience is essential

Finalist or newly qualified ACCA/CIMA or equivalent qualification
