Position Description

Vantage Automation Systems are responsible for the Design, Development & Delivery of the BMS/Automation Package within all VDC builds across entire the EMEA portfolio. We are looking for an innovative Automation Development Engineer to focus on the development, deployment, and commissioning of Building Automation Systems (BAS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems in data centres. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in automation system programming, integration and commissioning within mission critical infrastructure.

Essential Job Functions & Duties

  • Design, program, and configure BMS, PLC, and SCADA systems for data centre facilities.

  • Develop and implement system logic, scripts, and HMI/SCADA interfaces to meet operational and monitoring requirements.

  • Integrate automation systems with existing infrastructure and third-party applications using industry-standard protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, OPC, and Ethernet/IP.

  • Support the commissioning process by conducting system testing, validation, and troubleshooting.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define system specifications and ensure project alignment.

  • Optimize automation solutions for energy efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

  • Provide technical documentation, including logic diagrams, flowcharts, and configuration details.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during development, integration, and post-deployment phases.

  • Support on-site commissioning, ensuring systems are operational and meet design specifications.

  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in automation and control systems.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven experience in BAS, PLC, and SCADA system development and deployment.

  • Strong experience in process control within mission critical infrastructure.

  • Strong hands-on expertise with Rockwell Automation (e.g., Studio 5000, FactoryTalk) and Ignition SCADA platforms.

  • Knowledge of data centre operations, including environmental controls and energy management.

  • Proficiency in programming languages used in automation systems (e.g., Ladder Logic, Python, SQL).

  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and network configurations.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, wiring schematics, and control narratives.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure during commissioning phases.

  • Travel is expected to be between 25%-50% but may increase as the business evolves.
