Description

We are seeking a skilled Blade Specialist and Support Engineer to join our team, specializing in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of wind turbine blades. The ideal candidate will have GWO certification (or equivalent) and experience managing a network of blade specialists. This role will involve processing drone inspection data, providing technical support for clients, and ensuring the timely and accurate reporting of blade conditions. The Blade Specialist will also be responsible for managing blade inspection projects from start to finish, supporting clients with training, and troubleshooting related queries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Blade Inspection & Maintenance: Perform inspections and diagnostics on wind turbine blades. Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations, maintaining GWO certification (or equivalent).
  • End of Project Support: Oversee the completion of wind turbine blade-related projects, ensuring quality deliverables and preparing final reports.
  • Team Management: Coordinate a network of blade specialists, providing guidance, scheduling, and resource management. Mentor and train junior specialists.
  • Drone Inspection Data Processing: Analyze and process drone inspection data, identifying defects and collaborating with technical teams to integrate findings into maintenance planning.
  • Client Training: Conduct specialist training for clients on blade inspection and maintenance processes, ensuring they understand safety protocols and how to interpret inspection data.
  • Client Support: Act as the main point of contact for clients, assisting with drone and reporting queries. 
  • Inspection Management: Oversee the scheduling and tracking of blade inspections, ensuring all inspections are documented and managed according to industry standards.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years of experience in wind turbine blade inspection, maintenance, or support roles.
    • Proven experience in managing and coordinating teams.
  • Certifications: GWO Blade Repair certification (or equivalent), other relevant certifications a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge of wind turbine blade inspection techniques and safety protocols.
    • Familiarity with reporting software and tools for inspection management.
    • Ability to analyze and interpret drone inspection data.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Nice to Have:

  • Certified UAV Pilot: NQE qualification or equivalent, with experience in flying drones for wind turbine inspections.
  • Drone Experience: 2+ years of experience flying drones commercially, specifically in industrial or renewable energy sectors.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in French, Spanish, or German is highly desirable, enabling support for a global client base.
  • Wind Turbine Safety Rules Knowledge: Familiarity with wind turbine safety standards and protocols (e.g., WTSR).

Authorised Technician Qualification: Certified wind turbine technician qualifications or equivalent, enhancing your ability to perform specialized turbine inspections and repairs.
