Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid)

In this position, you’ll be based in the Edinburgh office for a minimum of three days a week, with the flexibility to work from home for some of your working week.

A role you will love

The Business Analyst acts as the bridge between business stakeholders, Product Management and technology teams. The role is responsible for understanding business requirements, analysing processes and systems, defining solution requirements, and supporting the delivery of business and technology change initiatives.

The BA works closely with Product Owners, business leaders, developers, architects, testers and operational teams to ensure that business needs are translated into effective technical solutions that deliver measurable value.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead stakeholder workshops and requirements gathering sessions.
  • Elicit, analyse, document, validate and prioritise business requirements.
  • Translate business needs into functional and non-functional specifications.
  • Define user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Maintain requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assess the impact of requirement changes and manage approvals.
  • Establish and maintain programme plans, milestones, dependencies and governance structures.
  • Work closely with developers, architects and testers throughout the SDLC.
  • Support solution design and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Define business rules, data requirements, process flows and integration requirements.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning and reviews.
  • Support testing and business acceptance activities.
  • Analyse current business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop process maps and workflow diagrams.
  • Recommend operational efficiencies and automation opportunities.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across technology and business functions.
  • Evaluate and standardise local processes - making sure they are as streamlined as possible.
  • Prioritise, challenge and validate requirements - from stakeholders who are used to getting everything custom to their local area.
  • Experience of working with global teams to create standard processes.

What will you bring to the role?

We're looking for someone with experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst or similar role who can work effectively across business and technology teams. You'll be confident gathering and translating requirements, analysing processes and systems, and supporting the delivery of business and technology change initiatives.

The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent stakeholder management and communication capabilities, and experience creating process maps, workflows and business models. Experience working within AI for requirements creation and code development will also be essential.

  • Experience as a Business Analyst, Systems Analyst or similar role.
  • Strong requirements gathering and documentation skills.
  • Experience working within AI for requirements creation and code development.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Experience creating process maps, workflows and business models.
  • Experience in financial services or regulated industries is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis is advantageous.
  • Experience with cloud, integration or enterprise platforms is beneficial.
  • Professional BA certifications (IIBA, BCS or equivalent) are desirable.
  • Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps or similar delivery tools is advantageous.
