The role:

The Director Capital Markets will be a key member of SoFi’s Capital Markets team with responsibility for developing and expanding the funding program to support aggressive growth of the Home Lending business. 

What you’ll do:

  • Act as the internal authority on mortgage capital and secondary markets, providing guidance to Home Lending business to support product development and marketing strategies.
  • Ensure the timely and efficient execution of capital markets strategies to align with goals set by executive management
  • Work with Pricing team to optimize overall margins to meet company objectives, to enable price testing, and to provide feedback loop / inputs into the pricing team from market execution
  • Collaborate with management to confirm that new products align with investor appetites for credit, operations, reputation, and interest rate risk.
  • Analyze market conditions and develop loan sale strategies to optimize profitability.
  • Lead the design and launch of innovative mortgage products for both portfolio and secondary market loans, addressing balance sheet strategies, market dynamics, and customer needs.
  • Oversee the valuation program for Mortgage Servicing Rights (MSR) in conjunction with Treasury and Accounting.
  • Manage pipeline interest rate risk through a TBA MBS hedging program.
  • Recommend and implement appropriate MSR hedging strategies.
  • Collaborate within Capital Markets and Home Lending business to review all operational and execution processes, identify improvement and savings and implement efficiency changes

What you’ll need:

  • In-depth understanding of mortgage lending processes, including origination, pricing, and secondary markets.
  • Familiarity with mortgage-related regulatory and compliance standards and credit policy.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple investor relationships, including both servicing-released and servicing retained investors.
  • Experience working with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, GNMA, and other private investors.
  • Experience with FHA, VA, and USDA investor reporting.
  • Understanding of conforming pricing and the whole loan sale process.
  • Understanding of the Mortgage P&L and how to value mortgage assets.
  • Excellent organizational, problem solving, analytical, planning, and scheduling skills.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Extensive industry/business knowledge.

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with marketplace trading platforms such as MCT 
  • 15+ years of experience managing complex debt facilities/transactions and lender relationships, including MBS and loan sales.

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
