Job Description

About the role

We are looking for a Cloud Governance Specialist who will lead and maintain Wise’s Cloud Governance policy to ensure it remains current and aligned with business objectives and regulatory needs within a multi-cloud environment. This role will also provide expertise to ensure that agreed standards and best practices are adhered to, as well as support and manage any exceptions to the policy.

Our team, Cloud Foundations, is responsible for building and maintaining the services that help ensure Wise’s cloud infrastructure meets all the necessary requirements for a growing FinTech business. To this end you will be working with us to optimise our services in a compliant and cost-effective way on AWS and other major cloud providers.

What will you be working on?

  • Maintain and contribute to the definitions of Cloud Governance policies and its KPIs

  • Ensure compliance of our cloud platform, presenting to regulators, auditors, and other stakeholders

  • Partner closely with platform engineering functions to ensure work is appropriately prioritised to ensure our cloud landscape is operating within the risk appetite

  • Provide transparent reporting to senior management on the overall risk position of our cloud platform

  • Support implementation of effective controls in collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls, identify gaps, and recommend improvements to mitigate risks

  • Contribute to sustainability reporting and metrics on carbon emissions within the cloud.

What do you need?

We are fully aware that it is uncommon for a candidate to have all skills required and we fully support everyone in learning new skills with us. So if you have some of those listed below and are eager to learn more we do want to hear from you!

  • Experience managing a Cloud Governance model within a multi-cloud environment in any regulated industry (preferably financial), where it is required to manage compliance against regulatory frameworks and standards, such as ISO27001 and PCI-DSS, amongst others.

  • Experience assessing controls, identifying gaps and implementing remedial measures in an internal platform engineering organisation within the wider business,  where platform reliability and security are paramount.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of cloud platforms and their services, capabilities and governance, as well as secure DevOps/DevSecOps practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex issues in a data-driven manner

  • Self-starter with problem solving skills, comfortable in making logical decisions when faced with ambiguous requirements and able to work with a high degree of independence.

  • Expertise in the communication of technical information in a clear and precise way to all levels of stakeholders

  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals

  • Nice to Have: Knowledge of SQL and/or programming languages, such as Python
