Role Summary
The Data Analyst is an early-career opportunity to join our collaborative, cross-functional Advanced Analytics Team. Reporting to the Director, Advanced Analytics, you will support internal stakeholders by turning data into clear, actionable insights through well-defined metrics, reports, and dashboards. You will work with partners across the business to understand questions, source and validate data, and communicate findings in a way that supports decision-making. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys data storytelling, continuous improvement, and building reliable reporting that leaders can trust.
What Will You Do
- Data analysis & reporting
- Support data discovery and profiling to validate sources and confirm reporting requirements
- Write basic SQL and use tools such as Power BI to build and maintain simple reports and dashboards
- Identify trends, anomalies, and drivers in datasets, and present findings clearly to non-technical audiences
- Help monitor and improve data quality in reporting outputs (e.g., completeness, consistency, and timeliness)
- Insights, metrics & stakeholder partnership
- Partner with stakeholders to translate questions into clear analytical requirements and reporting outputs
- Participate in workshops and interviews to understand user needs and prioritise reporting opportunities
- Analyse current reporting and processes to identify gaps, pain points, and improvement opportunities
- Work with analytics engineers and data owners to validate definitions, align on source-of-truth tables, and confirm outputs
- Data validation & quality
- Validate report outputs and data transformations using basic test queries, reconciliations, and spot checks
- Support stakeholder review of dashboards and reports
- Help investigate data and reporting issues (e.g., refresh failures, mismatched totals, or definition questions) and escalate with clear detail
- Training & Documentation
- Create and maintain user documentation (e.g., report definitions, runbooks, and quick guides)
What You Will Bring
- Foundational understanding of relational databases and the ability to write basic SQL queries
- Ability to build clear charts and dashboards using a BI tool (e.g., Power BI or Tableau)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to clarify analytical questions and document metric definitions and assumptions
- A proactive, learning mindset and comfort working across teams
- Basic understanding of business intelligence concepts (e.g., databases, data warehouses, and reporting tools)
- Awareness of data governance and data quality concepts (e.g., master data, reference data) and how they influence reporting
- Awareness of data modelling concepts and the ability to represent data using simple, standard techniques (e.g., entity-relationship diagrams)
- Exposure to data warehouse concepts and basic ETL/ELT patterns
- Exposure to tools like JIRA, Confluence, or similar project tracking tools
- Basic understanding of testing and release practices for analytics/reporting changes
- Exposure to process modelling tools or techniques (e.g., BPMN, flowcharts)
- Exposure to data lake and data warehouse technologies such as Snowflake
- Experience with Power BI and/or Tableau
- Experience supporting reporting delivery (e.g., defining metrics, validating data, and publishing reports)
