Why Envitia?

For over 30 years, Envitia has specialised in helping Defence, Government and National Security organisations unlock the value of complex data.

You’ll join a business where you can work on meaningful, technically challenging problems while still having the opportunity to influence how we develop our wider Data & Digital capability.

We’re also proud to have been recognised as one of The Sunday Times Top 100 Medium-Sized Companies, reflecting our focus on creating an environment where people can develop, collaborate and do their best work.

The Role

At Envitia, we help organisations turn complex data into better decisions and real-world outcomes.

We’re looking for a Data Architect to join our Consulting team and work with some of the UK’s most important Defence and Central Government organisations.

This isn’t a role where you’ll simply produce architecture diagrams and hand them over. You’ll work directly with customers to understand their challenges, shape their data strategy and design solutions that can be delivered in the real world.

From cloud data platforms and governance through to analytics, AI and enterprise data strategy, you’ll have the opportunity to influence how organisations manage and exploit their data at scale.

Job Responsibilities

As a Data Architect, you’ll work across the full lifecycle, from early discovery and strategy through to architecture, delivery and adoption.

You’ll:

  • Design modern, scalable data architectures that solve complex customer challenges.
  • Work directly with senior stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into practical data solutions.
  • Define data strategies, architectural roadmaps and target-state architectures.
  • Design approaches covering data platforms, integration, governance, analytics and AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Establish data governance principles that improve data quality, ownership, management and compliance.
  • Provide technical leadership from initial discovery through to implementation and operational adoption.
  • Collaborate with architects, data engineers, project managers and delivery teams to turn architecture into working solutions.
  • Advise customers on cloud adoption and data platform technologies across Azure and/or AWS.
  • Contribute to proposals, solution designs and customer presentations as part of our business development activity.
  • Help develop Envitia’s wider data capability through reusable frameworks, methodologies, accelerators and thought leadership.

Skills Required

You don’t need to tick every box, but we’d particularly like to hear from you if you have experience across several of the following:

Data Architecture

  • Designing and delivering data architectures within complex enterprise environments.
  • Developing data strategies, roadmaps and target-state architectures.
  • Data governance, data quality and information management.
  • Designing architectures that enable analytics, reporting, AI and advanced data use cases.
  • Working with modern cloud data platforms and services across Azure and/or AWS.
  • Producing architecture artefacts, technical designs and recommendations that can be understood by both technical and business audiences.

Consulting & stakeholder engagement

Just as importantly, you’ll be comfortable working directly with customers. You’ll be able to:

  • Turn complex business problems into clear technical approaches.
  • Engage confidently with both senior stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Explain complicated data concepts without unnecessary jargon.
  • Work collaboratively across architecture, engineering, delivery and business teams.
  • Present and defend architecture decisions through technical governance and design-review forums.
  • Contribute to proposals, bids, customer workshops and solution development.

Security Clearance Requirements

The successful candidate must hold or be required to go through an SC security clearance.

Location

You’ll be expected to attend our Horsham office approximately two days per month, alongside travel to customer sites where required.
