Graphcore is seeking to hire a Data Centre Operations Engineer to be part of a Data Centre Operations team that delivers world-class facilities and infrastructure for various internal customers. The position reports to the head office (Bristol), and although occasional travel to Bristol will be required, day-to-day work will be conducted at Newport, Wales, in the data centre.

Responsibilities and Duties

Monitoring all aspects of collocation facilities both on and off site to ensure fault free delivery of critical infrastructure, e.g. power, cooling, environment, connectivity

  • Designing standards-based deployment footprints to ensure continuity for Graphcore engineers based in offices around the world
  • Working with the business to gather requirements for upcoming projects, including delivering proposals based on industry best practices
  • Rolling upgrades of hardware, including some fine pitched work (must have good hand eye coordination)
  • Deployment of structured cabling, CAT6A and single / multi-mode fibre

Candidate Profile

Essential skills:

  • Proven experience in a broad range of areas involved in delivering world class collocation facilities, including but not limited to power, cooling, data cabling & environmental monitoring
  • Be curious, driven and willing to dive in at the deep end
  • Analytically investigate problems and provide methodical steps to attempt resolution
  • Analyse incidents and provide clear guidance on improvements and changes to ensure non-recurrence
  • Able to work independently or as part of a larger team
  • Full UK driver’s license
  • At least three years of industry experience working in similar roles
  • NVQ or industry certification in a relevant skill (e.g. power, cooling, structured cabling etc)
  • Ability to travel to USA and other counties on own passport

Desirable skills

  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with Networks
  • Experience with liquid cooling
