We are looking for an experienced Editor to join BioWorld team.

BioWorld (www.bioworld.com), owned by Clarivate, is the most respected news source for the biopharmaceutical industry for more than 30 years. BioWorld delivers actionable intelligence on the most innovative drug development across the globe. With writers and editors stationed around the world, BioWorld reports breaking news ‑ and provides key perspective and analysis ‑ on hundreds of human therapeutics in development, the companies behind those therapeutic candidates, the financial and business development transactions that evolve the market, and the regulatory hurdles that both challenge and guard the process.

About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree plus demonstrated experience in medical science writing. An advanced degree in science is desirable.
  • At least 5 years of work experience writing news with a focus on business, health and/or medical science
  • Strong English written and verbal communications skills
  • A strong familiarity with the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries with demonstrated experience covering both business and clinical news.

  • The ability to understand complex science and write about it in a way that makes them clear to readers
  • The ability to put the news in context by using archives and data to provide perspective on any given news event
  • Strong interviewing skills both in person, via phone and conference calls. The writer must be able to interact with highly credentialed executives and scientists.
  • Capable of developing background research in preparation for these meetings which occur within minutes or hours after assignments are made.
  • The ability to write quickly ( 1-5 hours), accurately and at an advanced level to help BioWorld deliver content at a fast pace
  • Capable of juggling multiple tasks and switching gears quickly, as needed
  • A strong news sense and the ability to help the team gather news leads.
  • Willingness to travel to key industry conferences three to four times per year. As part of that travel, arranging interviews, covering conference presentations and networking with sources and customers

What will you be doing in this role?

  • Working as both an editor (coordinating coverage in Europe) and as a staff writer who reports on drug development from a variety of angles, including business, finance, clinical, scientific, health care and regulatory perspectives.
  • Each day the editor/writer participates in daily news discussions with the entire BioWorld staff and is then assigned a story plus brief news items due later in the day.
  • Additional duties include conference coverage, feature stories, contributions to series and special projects, social media efforts including the blog, and Clarivate thought leadership.

This is a permanent full-time position.
