Job Description

The Payin Platform team own the systems through which all money flows into Wise, whether that’s to top-up an account, send money across borders, or to help our customers to receive money from their customers. Payin is a critical component to the Wise money-movement machine and we’re looking for an engineer motivated to come and help us build it.

The Payin Platform is an internal API product. We make it as easy as possible for teams to start building on our platform and helping Wise customers to pay in new ways and for new features and services. From topping up a USD balance by paying in BRL with Pix, to a UK business requesting payment from a business in Hungary and allowing them to pay in HUF with a credit card. Our API product facilitates these inflows and presents a unified view of the money movement that consolidates all of these use-cases.

Qualifications

What does it take?

  • A strong product mindset and passion for user experience, you prioritise work with the customers in mind and make data-driven decisions to fix customer pain-points

  • Great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex, technical concepts to non-technical audiences

  • Leading and inspiring your team of engineers to build the prioritise building right things, in the right way 

  • Ability to deliver work across multiple teams, coordinating your efforts across the organisation.. Your work will frequently involve cross-team collaboration.

  • Ability to break down complex projects into incremental milestones that deliver customer value

  • Experience in developing web applications and distributed systems in a production environment

  • Experience with common design and architectural patterns coupled with a passion for writing clean code that is performant and well tested 

  • Curiosity and drive for continuous learning and improvement

  • Following and advocating best coding practices, continuous delivery and code reviews

  • Experience working with relational and non-relational databases, query optimisation and designing schemas is a plus

  • Knowledge of Java and Spring boot and experience with a messaging system, like Kafka, is a plus

  • Salary range: £100000 - £120000
