We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead one of our Platform Engineering teams, which is primarily responsible for our Kubernetes infrastructure in AWS. This would be part of our wider Fabric team responsible for delivering the foundational platform to internal service teams. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical expertise in development, management, and security, coupled with strong leadership skills to mentor and develop engineers at all levels. The Engineering Manager will play a pivotal role in driving innovation, fostering collaboration, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality solutions.

How will you contribute?

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and direction to the team, ensuring the design, implementation, and maintenance of a resilient, scalable and cost-effective platform
  • Team Development: Mentor and coach engineers within the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, growth, and improvement.
  • Project and Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, establish project timelines, and allocate resources effectively to deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment within the team and across departments, promoting open communication, knowledge sharing, and teamwork.
  • Technical Innovation: Drive technical innovation within the team, exploring new tools, technologies, and approaches to enhance performance, security, and reliability.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks, proactively addressing challenges to minimize disruptions to service delivery.
  • Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality standards and best practices for development, testing, and deployment to ensure the delivery of reliable, secure infrastructure and the platform.

What will you bring?

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of engineers.
  • Proficiency in at least one higher level programming language (e.g. Java, Python).
  • Strong experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud computing platforms (AWS).
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineers at various levels of experience.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience working with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. terraform)

  • Nice to have:

  • Experience working in regulated / compliance spaces with a strong emphasis on security
  • Experience managing and operating Kubernetes
  • Experience developing and building an Engineering Platform
  • Experience in recruiting and building high-performing engineering teams
  • AWS certifications will be a bonus
