Job Description

Job Title: Events Manager

Location: Derby, Bristol, or London (with regular travel to Derby or Bristol + international travel)

Working Pattern: Full time, hybrid working. Travel expected.

Internal grading: Level C Manager

Hiring Manager: Lucy Scrannage, VP of Events.

Job Summary

This role provides the opportunity to work as part of a high-energy team, working at pace, across the divisions to ensure we deliver high quality events in all corners of Rolls-Royce. It will suit someone who is self-starting, outcome-focused and highly effective working in partnership with senior leaders. Travel will be an essential part of the role.  

Reporting to the VP of Events, you will lead on planning and delivering a range of events both internal and external across our priority events portfolio. This includes major airshows, sustainability initiatives, our five major annual internal conferences and thought leadership activities. This role provides significant exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to play a pivotal role in aligning our events to the company’s strategic goals.

The role is part of a Global Events Team within the wider Group Communications Team, which is based across the UK, US and Germany with some events having additional external agency support.   

What you’ll do

  • Deliver high-profile events: Lead the planning, logistics, and content creation for events and conferences, ensuring agendas are aligned to strategic initiatives and that the delegate experience reflects our ambition as a unified organisation.

  • Manage event delivery: From event and creative agencies selection to liaising with event sponsors and organisers e.g., logistics, budget management, internal and external stakeholder management. 

  • Support strategic priorities: Work closely with senior stakeholders, including the Executive Team, to ensure conferences are impactful and support our goals and strategic priorities.

  • Manage stakeholders and resources: Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies and senior leaders to shape and deliver exceptional events. Build strong relationships and have the confidence to challenge and guide to maintain alignment with the strategy.

  • Standardise and modernise: Work on key projects to enhance our events process, partnering with External Comms, Internal Comms and the Content & Channels teams to drive innovation.

What we’re looking for

  • Event leadership experience: Proven track record of managing internal and external high-profile events, ideally within a corporate or leadership-focused context.

  • Communications and Marketing experience: Ability to bring our brand and story to life through high quality inspiring events, ensuring all event content fits with our visual identity guidelines and showcases our brand to it greatest effect.

  • Self-starter with strategic insight: Ability to independently lead on event content and logistics while aligning outcomes to strategic objectives.

  • Stakeholder management expertise: Experience working with senior leaders, with the confidence to guide, influence, and push back as needed.

  • Budget management: Portfolio budget management desired – managing individual events from £400k - £2.5m

  • Exceptional organisational skills: Strong project management capabilities to oversee complex events and multiple workstreams simultaneously.

  • Collaborative mindset: Ability to work across internal and external teams, including communications partners and event agencies.

  • Flexibility and adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.

  • People Management: Directly or indirectly, experience desired, not essential.

  • Travel readiness: Willingness to travel regularly between Derby, Bristol, and London as required, as well as some international travel for external events.
