In this remote freelance role, you will specialize in Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE) and traditional translation, adapting complex technical and marketing materials for the Irish market. Responsibilities

As a Freelance Irish (Gaelic) Localization Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Translation & Post-Editing: Translate and post-edit diverse source materials from English into Irish (Gaelic) accurately, maintaining a natural and native flow.
  • Cultural Adaptation: Ensure all localized content is culturally relevant, clear, and perfectly aligned with client-specific brand guidelines and tone of voice.
  • Terminology Management: Maintain consistency in terminology, glossaries, and style guides across all translation projects.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner seamlessly with internal project managers and reviewers to ensure on-time delivery and strict adherence to quality standards.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform rigorous self-review and proofreading to deliver high-quality, publish-ready deliverables.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Native-level fluency in Irish (Gaelic) with an exceptional, professional command of source English.
  • Proven professional experience in translation and Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE), ideally within a freelance or agency capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience handling IT/software and technical translations.
  • Strong understanding of cultural nuances and localization practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Hands-on familiarity with cloud-based CAT tools and Translation Management Systems (TMS), with Phrase (Memsource) experience considered a strong advantage.
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to work independently, manage your own schedule, and reliably meet tight project deadlines in a remote setup.
  • Excellent communication skills for seamless collaboration with global teams.
