Front-End Engineer - Workflow Automation Team (Berlin, Hybrid) - D/F/M
Location: Berlin, Germany (Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office, 3 days remote)

At Personio, we're on a mission to transform the way companies experience work by building powerful workflow automation solutions. As a Front-End Engineer in our Workflow Automation Team, you will play a critical role in enhancing our no-code workflow builder tool, enabling our mid-market customers to create seamless, custom automations across various product areas.
Your work will directly contribute to empowering organisations to automate complex processes-making their teams approximately 30% more effective through advanced automation layers.
What You'll Do: Key Responsibilities
Develop and Enhance Solutions:
- Build and optimise front-end features for our no-code workflow automation platform using React and Next.js.
- Create engaging, user-centric interfaces that simplify complex automation workflows for our customers.
- Collaborate closely with Design and Product teams to bring intuitive user experiences to life.
Hands-On Coding:
- Be a key contributor to our high-output engineering team, embracing Pair/Mob programming in a hybrid setting.
- Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code, contributing to both front-end and, if desired, back-end development (experience with Kotlin is a plus).
Strategic Project Management:
- Own project estimation, scoping, and planning, ensuring timely delivery of impactful features.
- Work with Product Management and Leadership to align development efforts with strategic goals.
Solve Complex Challenges:
- Enhance the workflow builder tool, enabling customers to set up custom triggers and actions like sending emails or automating tasks.
- Drive improvements in performance, security, and operational quality, implementing robust monitoring and incident response processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work with Design Systems to ensure UI consistency and contribute to building a flexible platform that integrates across different Personio product areas.
- Engage in interviewing and hiring processes, supporting team growth and sharing your expertise.
Role Requirements: What You Need to Succeed
Technical Expertise:
- Strong experience with React and Next.js, ideally within a monorepo environment.
- Solid front-end development skills and an understanding of back-end technologies (Kotlin experience is a plus).
- Familiarity with no-code tools and building workflow automation solutions is highly beneficial.
Operational Excellence:
- Proven track record of building highly available, performant, and reliable systems.
- Experience in incident response and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Ability to mentor team members, promoting a learning culture within the team.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across Product, Design, and Engineering teams.
- Enthusiastic about in-person collaboration, with a willingness to work in the Berlin office 2 days per week.
