As a Full Stack Engineer, you will build scalable data platforms and backend services for financial crime detection, using Python and other technologies to process large datasets and design microservice architectures.

ThetaRay provides AI-driven anti-financial crime technology used by global banks and fintechs to detect money laundering and financial crime.
Our Madrid office is a key R&D hub with 50+ team members across engineering, data, and customer delivery, working closely with strategic customers across the region.
As a Full Stack Engineer, you will build scalable data platforms and backend services that power ThetaRay’s financial crime detection and analytics systems.
Technology: Python, Spark, Pandas, Airflow, microservices, distributed databases, Docker, Kubernetes, React / Angular, GenAI Orchestration (building agents), RAG, MCP.
What you’ll work on:
- Building large-scale data pipelines and backend services using Python
- Developing distributed data processing systems that analyze large financial datasets.
- Designing microservices architectures including AI Agent architectures that use tool-calling to automate investigative workflows.
- Contributing to modern web applications and UI components using React, Next.js, or Angular
- Contributing to scalable distributed architectures and event-driven systems, utilizing standard protocols (like MCP) to connect agents with enterprise data.
- Working with distributed databases and scalable storage systems.
- Strong experience developing data platforms or backend systems using Python.
- Experience building data pipelines or working with large-scale data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark, Pandas).
- Experience designing microservices architectures, including agentic design patterns (e.g., ReAct).
- Experience working with distributed databases (e.g., Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Redis).
- Experience working with containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience contributing to frontend applications using React, Next.js, or Angular.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot) and prompt engineering to accelerate the SDLC.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering for developer tooling, writing effective instructions/context to guide AI code suggestions.
- Fluent Spanish and strong English communication skills (written and spoken).
