The opportunity

Hitachi Energy is looking for a Global Supplier Development Engineer. This position can be filled anywhere in Europe where Hitachi Energy has a location.

In this role, you will ensure our suppliers deliver high-quality materials while maintaining cost-effectiveness. You will implement proactive quality assurance processes to enhance the quality and delivery performance of our supply base. Aligning with our Category Strategy, you will lead supplier assessments, manage development initiatives, oversee parts approvals, and drive continuous improvement, ultimately elevating our supplier partnerships and contributing to our operational excellence.

How you'll make an impact

  • Lead the supplier qualification process by conducting SAP Ariba assessments and executing global on-site audits to ensure supplier compliance and capability.

  • Implement improvement actions at suppliers based on audit findings and identified process improvements, fostering enhanced collaboration and quality outcomes.

  • Oversee the global parts approval process to ensure supplier materials and components meet technical and operational requirements for various critical to quality materials in Transformers Business unit

  • Monitor supplier performance indicators and drive the annual Supplier Performance Evaluation process to identify and address low-performing suppliers.

  • Develop and implement action plans for supplier performance recovery, working closely with suppliers to ensure the effectiveness of corrective measures.

  • Resolve escalated non-conformities with suppliers by leading root cause analysis and ensuring proper implementation of corrective actions.

  • Drive continuous improvement in supplier management processes at a global level, reflecting lessons learned and promoting best practices across the business unit.

  • Lead key SCM tool/system improvement projects within Supplier Quality and Development domain

  • Project lead for single/sole source elimination in critical global categories

Your background

  • Degree in Engineering (Materials, Mechanical, Production engineering or similar)

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in supplier development and supplier quality management

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions

  • Experience with transformer industry relevant materials and components production (e.g: steel, copper, aluminum, insulation materials, chemicals raw materials, gaskets, transformer components) is a strong advantage

  • You have solid experience with production process assessment

  • You have solid experience with Quality and Continuous Improvement tools and processes (e.g., Kaizen, DMAIC, A3, 8D, 5Why Analysis)

  • You have dept experience with APQP/PPAP, P-FMEA, Process Control Plan, Statistical Process Control, and inspection process

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational and time management skills with structured, proactive, self-driven, and result-oriented work approach

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting with suppliers and cross-functional teams effectively in international environment

  • Willingness to travel internationally to conduct supplier assessments and audits frequently
