About this opportunity

This role is responsible for defining and leading the Group’s data product governance, ensuring data safety, policy adherence, and robust producer–consumer operating models across the enterprise. It provides strategic, Group‑wide direction to embed governance‑by‑design, ensure compliance, set standards, and strengthen the lifecycle management of data products.

The role holder is also accountable for aligning the producer–consumer interaction model with the capabilities of the Group’s Data Marketplace, enabling colleagues across the organisation to easily discover, understand, and access high‑quality data products in a safe, governed, and user‑centred way.

In addition, this role drives the requirements that shape the strategy, roadmap, and operating model for the Data Marketplace, ensuring alignment with the Enterprise Data Platform, the Data Product Operating Model, metadata standards, and Group‑wide governance expectations.

Overall, this position plays a pivotal role in accelerating the adoption of data products and the accompanying governance framework, improving data discoverability, and strengthening trust in data across the organisation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Set the strategic direction for Producer–Consumer interaction, data product accountability, and governance‑by‑design across the organisation, including ownership of the Data Product Operating Model.

  • Lead Group‑wide governance and data safety, ensuring compliance with policies, metadata standards and data lifecycle requirements across platforms and domains.

  • Drive cross‑enterprise alignment by partnering with CDAO Data Management, Metadata, Contracts, and CTO teams to harmonise governance processes and lifecycle standards.

  • Oversee end‑to‑end operational governance of data products, including Marketplace delivery, sprint planning, release readiness, user support, and integration with tooling such as data contracts and Marketplace capabilities.

  • Engage and influence senior stakeholders, championing Marketplace adoption, leading demos and communications, and supporting domain teams in improving data product quality and governance adoption.

  • Lead and develop a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and engineering excellence, and managing recruitment, resourcing and team development.
