Job Summary
The Growth Product Manager will lead the product development of Itana’s online platform. You will play a crucial role in driving product strategy and execution, early customer acquisition and retention, and product enhancements via data analytics. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in B2B growth product management and experience in early-stage startups scaling products in dynamic, high-growth environments. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, policy, and business development, to drive our mission of simplifying business expansion across Africa.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy and Product Development:
- Align with leadership on business and revenue metrics and goals and develop product strategy and roadmap to meet the business goals.
- Ensure robust data collection and leverage data analytics to inform product decisions and optimizations. Monitor user behaviour, funnel metrics, and market trends to identify product enhancements and growth opportunities.
- Design, implement, and analyze A/B tests and other experiments to optimize key metrics like conversion rates and user engagement.
- Stay ahead of global industry trends and emerging technologies, particularly in the digital services and free zones space, to identify new features or services that will enhance Itana's competitive edge.
- Conduct industry-specific research and competitive analysis to identify trends, customer needs, competitive landscape, and opportunities for product improvement and innovation.
Customer Acquisition and User Experience:
- Define minimum viable product to ensure fast, iterative product launches to quickly identify and onboard target customers.
- Ensure the Itana digital platform provides a smooth, user-friendly experience throughout the customer lifecycle, from onboarding and acquisition to long-term retention.
- Create mechanisms that encourage product adoption, such as onboarding flows, notifications, and in-product education.
- Identify bottlenecks in the customer journey and develop solutions to streamline product experience and drive conversion
- Conduct user interviews and improve the product based on user feedback.
- Communicate with prospective customers and conduct user interviews to understand their needs and improve product experience based on user feedback.
Leadership and Management
- Lead Itana’s product development and engineering team, ensuring excellent planning and execution of planned activities on the product roadmap
- Define and track product KPIs
- Oversee the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery and quality and coordinating efforts across teams to ensure successful launch and service provision.
- As the company scales, lead hiring a product team to execute the product vision
Operational Support
- Assist with the product registration process, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Write feasibility reports and other documentation to support product development and decision-making.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with the business development, marketing and communications, and various free zone operations teams to ensure alignment with market needs and regulatory requirements, particularly in the context of digital free zones.
- Work with external stakeholders, including vendors and government agencies, to ensure the platform’s features support ease of business in Nigeria and across Africa.
- Collaborate with marketing to ensure the product is in line with user acquisition strategies and campaigns
- Stay informed about policy changes, government regulations, and partnerships that could influence the product direction.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product management experience, preferably in fintech or legal.
- Experience in early-stage startups; experience founding their own company a plus
- Experience working in B2B global expansion initiatives is a strong advantage.
- Strong understanding of data management, analytics, and regulatory compliance in international markets.
- Previous experience managing a product team.
- Previous programming experience is an advantage.
- Proven track record of successfully developing and launching products.
- The ability to write technical essays about the product is a huge plus!
Functional Competencies
- Strong analytical skills with experience in product analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel, Amplitude, Google Analytics) to track key performance metrics and drive decision-making.
- Familiarity with A/B testing methodologies, product experimentation, and user segmentation techniques.
- Comfortable working with engineering teams, with a solid understanding of software development processes, APIs, and data integration.
- Skill in defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success.
- In-depth understanding of growth tactics such as funnel optimization, viral loops, and network effects.
- Ability to think strategically about how to grow Itana’s platform and services while aligning with overall business goals.
- Understanding of UX principles and ability to collaborate with designers to create user-friendly interfaces.
- Understanding of quality assurance processes and ability to ensure product quality.
- Capacity to provide sales teams with the necessary tools and training to sell products effectively.
