Head of Engineering - Remote
Role Overview:
As the Head of Engineering, you will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and be responsible for driving the technical strategy, leading engineering teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of AI-powered solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product, Research, and Operations, to ensure innovation and execution at the highest level. You will play a pivotal role in defining technical strategy, scaling our AI infrastructure, optimizing performance, and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the engineering roadmap aligned with the company’s AI vision and business objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams specializing in AI, machine learning, and data engineering.
- Oversee the development and deployment of AI models, ensuring scalability, reliability, and ethical AI practices.
- Collaborate with Product, Research, and Sales teams to translate AI innovations into market-ready solutions.
- Ensure best practices in software development, cloud architecture, security and observability.
- Drive technical excellence through modern development methodologies, CI/CD, and MLOps.
- Establish key performance indicators to measure engineering effectiveness and model performance.
- Maintain awareness of emerging AI technologies and industry trends to drive continuous innovation.
- Partner with leadership to define technical hiring strategies and foster a strong engineering culture.
- Represent the company at AI conferences, industry events, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Work closely with the CTO to align engineering goals with overall technology strategy.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role at an AI or deep-tech company.
- Proven track record of growing and leading teams to build and scale AI-driven products.
- Strong expertise in machine learning, distributed systems, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Experience in building and owning full stack products using programming languages/frameworks such as Go/Typescript/Java/Python
- Experience in MLOps, data infrastructure, and deploying AI models in production environments.
- Strong understanding of security, compliance, and ethical AI principles.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or a related field.
Preferred:
- Experience in a high-growth startup environment.
- Knowledge of AI regulations, data privacy laws, and ethical AI frameworks.
- Track record of publications or contributions to the AI community.
- Prior experience running Gen AI models in production.
