Programme: Logistics Commodities & Services Transformation Programme (LCST)

Location: Bristol

Role Overview:
The Head of Marketing and Communications (LCST) is a key appointment for the Leidos Commercial and International Sector. Reporting to the Senior Manager, UK Marketing and Communications, you will hold an internal and external customer facing role, providing oversight, direction, and guidance in the areas of:

•    Internal Communications/Employee Engagement
•    Marketing Campaigns

•    Press and Media
•    Branding

  • You will be part of the Leidos UK Marketing and Communications team with a focus on: 
  • Developing clear communications strategies to promote Leidos’ innovative, client-focused logistics activities.
  • Fostering a culture of LCST on-contract growth, continuous process improvement, and delivery excellence.
  • Your key priorities will include driving engagement in the Leidos strategy, mission, and brand, ensuring LCST is actively represented in the Leidos corporate narrative, marketing campaigns, and events, thus supporting business growth
  • Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of LCST marketing and communications plans until the end of the contract in 2028.
  • Differentiate Leidos through effective communications, an active social value and sponsorship programme, and leading-edge branding and digital strategies.
  • Establish and maintain a working environment that fosters an inclusive culture, reflects our Leidos values, and fully supports UK programmes achieving on-time, cost-effective, and highest-quality deliverables.
  • Encourage the wider team to experiment with new channels, technologies and strategies to stay ahead of the competition.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and partners, in particular our LCST sub-contractors and customers.
  • Oversee the creation of impactful content, including media releases, articles, digital productions, and social.
  • To comply with Ministry of Defence (MOD) and Corporate processes for the release of information to the public domain.
  • To oversee the process for managing official requests for information, namely Freedom of Information, Parliamentary Requests, Ministerial Questions and other official Customer requests.
  • To build and promote thought leadership papers to challenge existing conventions and to promote Leidos’ pedigree in digital transformation.
  • To manage and further develop the LCST Customer Communications Portal (SCIP Portal) located on the MOD’s IT network.
  • To manage events that promote LCST to Customers, Suppliers and Stakeholders.
  • To oversee the design of marketing collateral that accentuates the positives of LCST and supports leaders in delivering high-impact messaging.
  • Manage budgets with the LCST Leadership Team to ensure there is a measurable return on investment and cost containment.
  • To articulate marketing and communications highlights weekly to UK and Corporate stakeholders.
  • Set goals and expectations for direct reports consistent with the UK strategic and tactical goals and objectives.
  • To ensure effective internal communications to staff, including arranging monthly staff engagement meetings for senior leaders.

Skills Required:

  • Prior experience in a senior business-to-business Marketing and Communications role, with the ability to successfully manage projects from conception to completion.
  • Experience of working in the government sector and understanding of the environment this brings. Awareness of the competitive landscape in which Leidos operates is highly advantageous.
  • A good leader with a proven track record in people management. 
  • A strong background in content marketing, with a track record of increasing content to support key performance indicators by developing engaging content and managing content distribution channels in a context where thought leadership is important.
  • Amazing interpersonal skills, as well as strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and extract actionable insights.
  • Experience working in a matrix organisation, with the ability to influence and use innovation to drive effective marketing and communications outcomes.

The Logistics Commodities & Services Transformation (LCST) Programme for the UK Ministry of Defence is a critical effort to enhance and improve the UK’s defence supply chain. The programme provides essential services such as storage and distribution for the MOD's materiel, including a global freight service and the procurement and inventory management of 70,000 commodity NATO Stock Number (NSNs).
