This is an exciting opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys working operationally, building strong relationships and making a real impact. Reporting to the Group HR Director, with day-to-day accountability to the Resort General Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting our team of around 280 Team Members and helping to create an engaging, high-performing and inclusive workplace.

Job Description

The Role

As HR Manager, you'll provide hands-on HR leadership across the Resort, supporting managers and Team Members through every stage of the employee lifecycle. You'll work collaboratively with operational managers to deliver pragmatic, commercially focused HR solutions that support both our people and our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert HR advice and guidance across all aspects of the employee lifecycle, including employee relations, recruitment, performance management, wellbeing, engagement, reward and recognition, and organisational development.
  • Partner with the Resort Management Team to deliver people-focused solutions that support operational excellence.
  • Lead and support complex employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent and legally compliant outcomes.
  • Develop trusted relationships with managers, coaching and supporting them to build confident leadership capability.
  • Lead the Resort's recruitment and onboarding activity, ensuring we continue to attract and retain exceptional talent.
  • Champion Team Member engagement through initiatives including job chats, feedback and wellbeing activities.
  • Support the implementation of Group HR initiatives, ensuring policies, procedures and best practice are embedded across the Resort.
  • Drive diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, helping to create an environment where everyone feels valued and able to succeed.
  • Oversee reward, recognition and Team Member benefits, in conjunction with the Group HR Director, ensuring these remain competitive and aligned to business needs.
  • Manage, coach and develop the Resort HR Administrator and the Resort Recruitment Coordinator
  • Analyse people data and HR metrics to identify trends, inform decision-making and support continuous improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with the Group HR Director and HR colleagues on wider people projects across the business.

About You

You'll be an experienced HR professional with a minimum of three years' experience operating in an HR Manager, HR Business Partner or equivalent senior generalist HR role.

With a broad generalist HR background, you'll thrive on building trusted relationships and supporting people to be at their best. You'll be practical, approachable and commercially aware, with the confidence to provide sound advice, challenge constructively where needed, and work collaboratively to find positive solutions for both our Team Members and the business.

Hours

This is a full-time position based at Potters Resorts Five Lakes, Maldon, Essex.

The role is primarily Monday to Friday; however, as an operational Resort, flexibility is required to support the business, including occasional evenings, weekends when required.

Qualifications

Essential Skills & Experience

  • CIPD qualified (Level 5 minimum) with Chartered Member status or working towards Chartered Membership.
  • Significant experience in a standalone or senior generalist HR role.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Proven experience managing complex employee relations cases.
  • Excellent coaching, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise competing demands in a busy operational environment.
  • Comfortable using HR systems and Microsoft Office, with the ability to interpret and present people data.
  • A positive, resilient and proactive approach with excellent judgement and discretion.

Desirable

  • Experience within hospitality, leisure, retail or another customer-focused operational environment.
  • Experience of supporting learning and development initiatives.
  • Experience leading engagement, wellbeing or culture projects.
