HiveMQ’s Vision for this role

HiveMQ is seeking a Junior Security Engineer to join our Platform Team, which plays a crucial role in supporting the company’s end-to-end operations by providing and protecting essential platform services.

As a multi-disciplinary team, the Platform Team enhances the overall efficiency of HiveMQ’s product development and cloud applications development, operations and security. In this role, you will support product development by developing and maintaining security tools and improving developer experience.

By working closely with our development teams, you will identify (security) challenges and implement solutions that enable them to operate more effectively and efficiently.

You will…

  • Grow and develop yourself as an engineer. 
  • Work closely with teams to understand their requirements and develop security solutions that meet their needs.
  • Help obtain and maintain security attestations and certifications (SOC2/ISO27001 and more)
  • Design, develop, and maintain security tools and infrastructure, including data  analysis, automation, and software development tools.
  • Provide training and support to product teams to help them effectively use the security tools and infrastructure. 
  • Measure and report on security performance, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations on how to optimize performance. 
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives to help drive innovation and growth within the product development organization.
  • Live a culture of teamwork, quality, growth, drive to action, and excellence.

You have…

  • Completed or almost completed relevant studies.
  • Excellent English communication skills and able to work in a collaborative remote team environment. 
  • A pragmatic approach paired with a high sense of ownership and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Experience in networking technologies, such as routing, network performance, DNS, and VPN. 
  • Experience with Linux, such as terminals, SSH, Bash. 
  • Familiarity with Cloud products and services.

Must haves:

  • Relevant studies (Or completing with the upcoming semester/quarter)
  • Computer Science, equivalent or adjacent.

Nice to have:

  • Any relevant work experience, internships, traineeships, summer jobs.
  • Security background or exposure to this space
