Boeing Canada Winnipeg is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Manager, to lead composite panel fabrication, processing and assembly operations for the Boeing Commercial Airplane programs at the Winnipeg, Manitoba location on Murray Park Road.
The role will be part of the site Manufacturing Operations Management team and reports directly to the Manufacturing Senior Manager for the manufacturing cells / processes assigned.
This is a full-time, permanent position, and the selected candidate must be able to work the evening or midnight shift as assigned.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Develops projects or operational plans aligned to department's objectives. Implements plans to ensure business, technical and customer requirements are achieved. Assigns authority and responsibilities to employees to execute the plan. Reviews plans' execution, makes appropriate adjustments, and resolves issues. Monitors appropriate metrics to ensure performance to plan.
  • Coaches, counsels, mentors and provides developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities. Provides on-going developmental feedback. Recognizes contributions of individuals and teams to improve employee satisfaction and retain a skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Establishes partnerships and relationships with internal customers, stakeholders, peers and direct reports.
  • Applies in-depth understanding of budget management principles and practices to develop and administer project or operating budgets. Ensures work statement is completed on schedule and budget.
  • Conveys organizational messages to facilitate the accomplishment of workgroup, project or process goals. Proactively communicates with employees, peers (e.g., fellow first-level managers) and customers. Keeps others informed by communicating project status, conducting and participating in team meetings, providing presentations and listening to employee concerns and suggestions. Communicates policies and directives to enhance employee awareness of expectations.
  • Implements policies, procedures and documents to ensure consistent execution of processes within workgroup in support of Boeing and regulatory requirements. Enforces company rules and policies regarding ethical behavior, safety, security, use of company property, time charging, etc.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve work-related products and processes within own workgroup, project or process. Engages and empowers employees to make process improvements.
  • Forecasts resource needs and obtains and manages personnel, facilities, services, equipment and tools to meet project and daily operating requirements. Acquires, deploys and schedules personnel to meet project and operational objectives. Reviews, approves and implements facility, equipment and service plans to maximize productivity and ensure safety, security, environmental and regulatory compliance. Coordinates with providers to achieve timely delivery of resources.
  • Develops workgroup, project or operational goals, objectives and related metrics to ensure alignment with Company vision/strategy. Measures progress, making adjustments as needed. Holds direct reports accountable for achieving goals. Achieves goals for productivity, quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Provides technical direction and guidance to others regarding approved processes, tools, technology and skills for own projects or processes. Ensures workgroup products or processes meet customer, company, quality, industry and regulatory requirements. Provides approval of workgroup technical approaches, products and processes.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace or manufacturing
  • Must have demonstrated management or leadership skills (i.e. leading kaizens, problem solving teams, projects, current or previous lead hand experience)
  • Understanding of the systems supporting the manufacturing process (Lean Manufacturing Principles, One BPS, ERP, Supplier Scheduling, etc.)
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada
  • Individual must not pose a risk for safeguarding of controlled goods
  • Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Post-Secondary education
  • Prefer extensive experience in systematic problem solving, lean manufacturing application, developing production plans dealing with personnel matters including the selection of employees, evaluating employees' performance and providing feedback or recommendations concerning corrective course of action
  • Completion of the Manager Development Program is preferred

Additional Information:
This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.
