Company Overview

At Hubstaff, our mission is to empower people to have their most productive workday. We do this by providing the industry-leading workforce analytics and time tracking platform for remote and distributed teams.

We’ve been fully remote for over a decade-long before it became a trend-and we continue to believe that remote work represents the most significant shift in the modern workplace since the advent of the PC. Our platform helps more than 95,000 businesses track time, manage schedules, and automate payments with transparency and accountability at its core.

We’re a product-led company with a winning culture, strong momentum, and a long-term vision: to become an essential part of every remote company’s tech stack. And we’re just getting started.

The Role

We’re hiring a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our engineering team. This is a full-time (40 hrs/week), remote position with long-term potential.

You’ll take ownership of Hubstaff’s marketing site frontend architecture - built with Astro, Vue 3, and Payload CMS - ensuring it remains performant, maintainable, and delightful to use.

You’ll work closely with our Engineering Manager, designers, and backend developers to evolve our design system, improve content workflows, and deliver seamless, high-performing user experiences.

We value engineers who care deeply about long-term code health, scalability, and craftsmanship - and who see themselves growing with the team for years to come.

What You’ll Do
  • Own and evolve the frontend architecture of our Astro + Vue 3 website.

  • Collaborate with designers and backend developers to translate UI/UX concepts into maintainable, accessible, and responsive code.

  • Extend and refine our integrations with Payload CMS and other self-hosted headless CMS platforms, defining reusable content structures and dynamic components.

  • Implement performant, SEO-friendly static rendering strategies using Astro’s hybrid rendering model.

  • Continuously improve site performance (Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse scores, caching strategies).

  • Support and maintain our self-hosted WordPress resources, ensuring reliability, security, and seamless integration with the broader site ecosystem.

  • Coordinate updates and integrations between WordPress and our static site infrastructure when needed.

  • Document and maintain developer and content-editor workflows for consistent implementation.

  • Introduce and maintain automated frontend testing and CI/CD improvements.

  • Stay up to date with frontend best practices, accessibility, and emerging frameworks.

What You Should Have
  • 5+ years of professional frontend development experience, with at least 2+ years working with Vue.js or similar component-based frameworks (React, Svelte).

  • Proven experience with static site generators (Astro, Nuxt, Next, etc.) and self-hosted headless CMS integrations (Payload CMS or similar).

  • Expert-level understanding of HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.

  • Strong understanding of performance optimization, responsive design, and accessibility.

  • Deep experience with Git-based workflows and collaborative development.

  • Solid understanding of component-driven design and maintainable architecture.

  • Experience working asynchronously in fully remote teams.

  • A history of multi-year tenure in recent roles.

Nice to Have
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails, particularly integrating frontend layers with Rails-based systems.

  • Familiarity with managed headless CMS platforms such as Storyblok, Contentful, or Sanity.

  • Experience with Payload CMS plugin development or API customization.

  • Knowledge of analytics, A/B testing, or feature-flag systems (e.g., Statsig, Segment, Posthog).

  • Experience supporting and maintaining self-managed WordPress environments is a plus.

  • An eye for design systems, motion design (e.g., Anime.js), and UI consistency.
