Job Purpose and Impact
- The Professional, Platform Engineering job maintains and partners to design and develop digital technology infrastructure to support information technology applications and services. With limited supervision, this job collaborates with cross functional teams to implement new software features to meet user needs and business goals and upgrade existing platforms to improve performance and functionality through writing clean, efficient and scalable code and troubleshooting and debugging moderately complex issues. This job also participates in code reviews to maintain high code quality and share knowledge with platform engineering team members.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage and maintain Snowflake environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.
- Develop and implement frameworks for provisioning databases, schemas, warehouses and roles within Snowflake.
- Set up and manage RBAC to ensure secure and efficient access to data.
- Monitor and manage Snowflake costs and usage, providing regular reports and insights to optimize spending.
- Handle financial operations (FinOps) for the cloud platform, ensuring cost efficiency and budget adherence.
- Optimize Snowflake performance through regular monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Work closely with data engineering, analytics, and IT teams to support their Snowflake needs and ensure seamless integration.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of Snowflake configurations, processes, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Snowflake administration and cloud platform management.
- Proficiency in SQL, SnowSQL, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong understanding of Snowflake architecture, security features, and performance tuning.
- Proven experience in managing cloud costs and implementing FinOps practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
