Our privacy products are deployed by some of the world's largest consumer technology companies and are built on cutting-edge cryptographic protocols and Internet standards.
This role spans two complementary domains:
- Privacy: Products and protocols that minimize data collection and protect user identity, including Privacy Proxy (MASQUE-powered tunneling) and Privacy Gateway (Oblivious HTTP).
- Transparency: Products that make cryptographic systems or the code binaries auditable and trustworthy, including Key Transparency (verifying end-to-end encryption keys for messaging apps like WhatsApp), Certificate Transparency infrastructure, and emerging transparency log products.
These technologies have a few things in common: they use emerging cryptography to build privacy into the foundations of the networking stack, and help improve the trustworthiness of the Internet by not relying on any single party. This role will work closely with our Research team - engineers and researchers who are defining Internet standards at the IETF and deploying them at scale on Cloudflare's global network.
What You'll Do
- Define and drive the product roadmap for privacy and transparency technologies deployed across Cloudflare's network
- Partner with world-class cryptography researchers and engineers to translate emerging standards (OHTTP, MASQUE, Key Transparency) into production-ready products
- Work with some of the world's largest consumer technology companies to co-develop privacy-preserving infrastructure for their products
- Identify new applications for transparency log technology - anywhere cryptographic auditability can improve security and trust
- Navigate complex technical tradeoffs between privacy guarantees, transparency requirements, performance, and usability
- Collaborate with policy, legal, and communications teams to position Cloudflare as a leader in building a more trustworthy Internet
- Represent Cloudflare in industry forums, standards bodies (IETF), and with partners shaping the future of Internet security

- Understanding and passion for privacy on the Internet, and the ability to empathize with how it affects everyday people
- 3+ years of product management experience, ideally in infrastructure, privacy, or cryptography-adjacent products
- Strong technical foundation or engineering background, and eagerness to get your hands dirty. Familiarity with modern software development practices and basic engineering concepts, and ability to understand the impact of technical and architectural decisions.
- Experience working with or understanding of privacy-enhancing technologies (proxying, cryptographic primitives, transparency logs, proxy architectures, and/or network protocols )
- Track record of shipping products that serve both enterprise customers and massive consumer scale
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences and represent Cloudflare externally
- Bonus: familiarity with IETF standards processes, prior work on end-to-end encrypted systems, privacy-oriented academic research
Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location.
- For New York City, New Jersey, Washington, Washington DC, and California (excluding Bay Area) based hires: Estimated annual salary of $141,000 - $194,000
