Be trusted to make great things happen.

Are you ready to take up a vital role in shaping some of our exciting projects? Join our supportive and inclusive team at AtkinsRéalis where your ideas matter, collaboration drives success, and our world-class talent work together to face our clients' problems head-on. Our Transportation Project Delivery Practice (PDP) leads the delivery of our major projects across Rail and Transit, Highways, and Local Transport markets. We have a wide client base including HS2, National Highways, Network Rail, Irish Rail, Local Authorities, as well as several Principal Contractors. We also lean out to support complex projects in other sectors such as Defence and Nuclear.

To help deliver our growing portfolio of railway infrastructure projects, we’re looking for a Project Manager to join our team. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of projects from start to finish and grow your career in a dynamic environment.

Your role
  • Project Delivery: Lead projects from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Team Leadership: Building, motivating, maintaining, coaching, guiding, and developing the team.
  • Planning & Coordination: Work with resource managers to plan ahead and ensure the right skills are available. Align teams on scope, timelines, costs, risks, and interfaces.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and report project progress against key targets including programme, quality, financials, and KPIs.
  • Governance & Commercial: Ensure compliance with company, client, and industry standards. Manage risks, opportunities, and contract changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Client Engagement: Act as the main point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and identifying opportunities for future work.
  • Win Work: Act as Bid Manager on selective pursuits, working with our Market teams to secure new projects.
  • Community Contribution: Share best practices, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the wider project management community.
About you
  • You are likely to have several years of infrastructure delivery experience, ideally from within a consultancy environment.
  • Project/Engineering Management background with experience within the Rail sector (eg. Network Rail and/or HS2 and Principal Contractors). Experience in the delivery of railway station projects will be a plus.
  • Experience of leading multi-disciplinary design teams (>£1m design fees).
  • Understanding of design delivery, assurance, and change control.
  • Ability to work constructively and collaboratively with clients and internal teams to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Understands and has experience in deploying various forms of contract (eg. NEC).
  • Professional membership and recognised level of Project Management competence (eg. MAPM, MICE, PMQ, or equivalent) – desirable.
