About the Opportunity:

Amentum are offering an exciting opportunity to join our growing team of IT professionals to work on a range of projects for our diverse client portfolio that covers Critical National Infrastructure, National Security, Defence and Nuclear market sectors. Our team is growing and are we looking for proactive and collaborative professionals of all levels to work within us in providing a range of services to our clients. With our deep technical, commercial, and strategic expertise we develop solutions that address our client’s critical challenges supporting digitalisation and security.

We are looking for a Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex projects across both bid and programme execution phases. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering projects, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, governance frameworks, and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of complex Defence and Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) projects, ensuring performance against cost, schedule, quality, and risk objectives.

  • Manage project lifecycle activities across CADMID phases, from concept and assessment through to delivery and in-service support.

  • Support bid and proposal activities, including planning, resource estimation, risk identification, and transition into delivery.

  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, suppliers, and partners to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Establish and maintain project management plans, including schedules, budgets, risk registers, and reporting frameworks.

  • Ensure compliance with MOD or industry governance, assurance processes, and contractual requirements.

  • Engage with senior stakeholders, providing clear reporting, issue resolution, and decision support.

Here's What You'll Need:

General:

  • Degree qualified in Business, Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.

  • Ability to operate in complex, fast-paced, and high-assurance environments.

Experience:

  • Proven experience managing delivery of complex projects across full lifecycle phases, including bid, mobilisation, delivery, and in-service support.

  • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and suppliers within complex delivery environments and bid activities.

  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile, MSP, or hybrid approaches) and managing project plans, schedules, budgets, risks, and dependencies.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.

  • Strong commercial awareness, including contract management and financial control.

  • Professional certification (e.g. PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ, MSP) [highly desirable].

Standards & Frameworks:

  • Familiarity with MOD governance frameworks and delivery environments [desirable].

  • Understanding of project controls, reporting, and assurance processes.

  • Awareness of systems engineering and integration considerations within Defence projects [desirable].

  • Familiarity with tooling such as MS Project, Primavera, Jira, or similar.
