The role

The main purpose of the role us to lead the relevant QC Operations team and all associated routine/non-routine activities, in an effective and efficient manner, whilst maintaining compliance with all Company, Regulatory and Client requirements.

Main Responsibilities

Operational

  • Organises the team resources to meet the output and quality requirements of the QC Test plan.

  • Monitors performance and works with individuals to meet daily performance targets.

  • Where issues outside of direct control may lead to missing demand, brings suggested solutions to managers for discussion/ agreement.

  • Deliver operational requirements to the lab planning team.

  • Ensuring on-time and ‘right first time’ delivery of team activities including, but not limited to, analytical testing, analytical data, technical documentation, trending.

  • Raise, own and progress DR/OOS investigations, CAPA plans for their team and ensure learnings are communicated.

  • Review analytical and laboratory data within the team/department for accuracy, completion, and compliance with documented procedures. Including Right First Time Trending, Validation VTP’s, Final Data Approvals

  • Conduct relevant training and manage development of the team’s skills and knowledge.

  • Ensure all training is evidenced and recorded in line with Company requirements, and that training records are adequately maintained.

  • Ensures that the relevant quality system procedures are trained, followed and maintained in the department and cells.

  • Promotes continuous improvement and a quality consciousness culture within the team.

  • Participate in any problem-solving activities, as required.

Team Management & Coaching:

  • Supervises all human resources effectively ensuring recruitment, training, appraisals and discipline are coordinated to reach departmental goals.

  • Works with the management team to maintain records and to consistently, promptly and effectively respond to discipline and motivational issues.

  • Actively gauges moral in the team and takes action to address issues and provide support as required/ as necessary ensuring all KPIs, targets and other deadlines are met consistently both individually and by the team.

  • Maintains Tier SQDC tracking boards. Understands Pareto Charts, identifies action plans, chases down actions, gaining support from resources outside of the department.

  • Manage and process all HR related and departmental documentation for all direct reports including, absence / sickness / annual leave, attendance, overtime, appraisals / 1-2-1s, probation review, induction, poor performance / disciplinary, grievance, recruitment.

  • Encourage and support a working environment that encompasses PCI’s core values and behaviours, including One PCI.  

Requirements

  • Degree educated in a scientific subject (preferably Chemistry, Microbiology).

  • Familiar with GMP Standards.

  • Similar level supervisory experience within a pharmaceutical laboratory environment. 

  • Customer facing experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of IT (e.g. Microsoft).
