Summary

A Regional Transport Planner at ForFarmers plays a key role in ensuring the efficient, compliant, and cost-effective movement of bulk feed deliveries and collections across the South of the UK. Working closely with the Transport Manager, Operations teams, Mill Production, and Blend facilities, the planner is responsible for coordinating transport activities that support smooth, reliable service to both internal and external stakeholders.

The role centres around developing and managing transport plans that optimise resources, maximise efficiency, and adhere to industry legislation. This includes overseeing both ForFarmers’ bulk fleet and associated subcontractors, making sure that vehicle utilisation, routing, and scheduling are aligned with operational targets and customer needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create efficient transport plans for all sites in the region, ensuring alignment with ForFarmers’ goals for utilisation and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate bulk feed deliveries and raw material backloads, ensuring timely, compliant, and efficient operations.
  • Communicate effectively with management, transport teams, and production teams to support seamless daily operations.
  • Challenge and improve routing processes, continually seeking better ways of working and identifying cost savings.
  • Manage and direct fleet activity, including subcontractors, while ensuring all work is compliant with transport legislation and internal standards.
  • Monitor and process operational data, maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

Skills & Experience Required
  • Proven experience in transport routing for multi-site operations and varied vehicle types.
  • Experience with farm-based deliveries or similar challenging operational environments.
  • Strong knowledge of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
  • High level of accuracy and ability to interpret operational data.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with ORD Ortec planning software (or similar planning systems) and SAP.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with multiple teams and stakeholders.
