Job Description

We’re looking for a Regulatory Risk Lead with broad compliance and risk experience who will focus on developing and enhancing our regulatory risk framework.

You will lead the global second line risk management team responsible for oversight of regulatory risk assessments including relevant regulatory issues and incident management, and development of appropriate KRIs and Risk appetites. You will provide support and assurance over our risk and control environment and partner with first and second line compliance teams from around the world to help them identify, manage and monitor our regulatory risk profile.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Regulatory Risk Strategy - Devise and set the regulatory risk strategy in partnership with the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Chief Compliance Officer, senior management and the board, ensuring alignment across the three lines of defence. The strategy should support the organisation to be able to innovate and take informed risks.

  • Team Development and Leadership: Develop, coach and lead a second line team focused on developing our regulatory risk framework and providing advice, review and challenge to the business on regulatory risk matters.

  • Regulatory Risk Framework Enhancements: Lead the continued development, implementation and embedding of a best-in-class regulatory risk framework, which scales globally across more than 13 legal entities, ensuring risks are identified, managed and mitigated in a timely manner while offering assurance that local regulatory requirements are being met.

  • Control Identification and Documentation: Working with compliance and first line to set the strategy and approach for how we identify and document regulatory controls, providing expert guidance and support to ensure controls are effectively designed and properly executed.

  • Development of Risk Appetite and Metrics: Spearhead the development of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Risk Appetite Statements (RAS) in partnership with first line and compliance teams across the globe, effectively measuring and communicating the firm's regulatory risk exposure in the context of board expectations.

  • Thematics and Deep dives: Leverage your global view of our regulatory risk position using insights from risk assessments, issues and incidents to identify opportunities for thematic reviews and deep-dives where appropriate. Provide ongoing visibility to the group CRO, senior management on areas of weakness and learnings to be applied across regions.

  • Remediation Oversight - review and challenge of first line closure of any identified regulatory gaps, supporting the analysis of impact and likelihood of risks to ensure appropriate prioritisation.

  • Governance and Reporting: Accountable for oversight and challenge of the regional regulatory risk assessments, ensuring effective and informative materials for group committees are available in a timely manner. This includes inputs into the Group Regulatory Risk Committee, Group Risk Committee and Group Audit and Risk Committee.

What you’ll bring:

Our ideal candidate will have a background in regulatory compliance and risk management, together with great communication and organisational skills. More specifically, we’re looking for someone who can demonstrate they have these attributes:
