We're hiring a Senior Data Test Engineer to help us build robust, scalable testing frameworks for complex data ecosystems.
In this role, you'll: Design and develop automated validation for data pipelines, APIs, and microservices, using tools like Pandas, Great Expectations, and Java (Spring Boot). Collaborate closely with development teams to embed quality into Java-based architectures. Lead testing efforts for AWS-based data lakes (S3, Glue, Athena), with a focus on schema evolution, data quality rules, and performance testing—shifting away from traditional SQL-heavy testing.
Join our agile, cross-functional teams to enhance testing practices across cloud-native microservices and data platforms. You'll develop scalable test automation frameworks with a focus on data validation using tools like Pandas, and lead strategies for testing data lakes.
Collaborate closely with QA and Java/Spring Boot development teams to ensure data quality and reliability across our sports technology ecosystem.
What Your Day Will Look Like
Build scalable and robust frameworks for validating complex data systems, pipelines, and APIs using tools like Pandas, Great Expectations, and Java modules.
Collaborate with development teams to design and implement automated tests for microservices, emphasizing Spring Boot and Java-based architectures.
Implement testing strategies for AWS data lakes (e.g., S3, Glue, Athena) with a focus on schema evolution, data quality rules, and performance benchmarks, prioritizing data lake testing over traditional SQL approaches.
Automate data tests within CI/CD workflows to enable continuous build, validation, and deployment.
Create tools for synthetic data generation to simulate real-world scenarios and ensure comprehensive coverage.
Collaborate to set, measure, and track key data quality metrics for reliable performance.
Identify gaps in existing approaches and implement improvements aligned with best practices.
Proactively refine testing strategies and share actionable insights to boost overall quality.
Clearly explain data testing methodologies and train teams to independently implement and use the automation frameworks.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
Expertise in validating complex datasets, creating synthetic test data, and leveraging tools like Pandas and Python for comprehensive data quality assurance.
Proven ability to build and maintain scalable test automation frameworks, with a focus on backend, API, and data systems using tools like Pytest and Postman.
Expertise in Pandas, SQL, and AWS analytics services (Glue, Athena, Redshift) for data profiling, transformation, and validation within data lakes.
Solid experience with AWS (S3, Lambda, EMR, ECS/EKS, CloudFormation/Terraform) and understanding of cloud-native architectures and best practices.
Advanced skills in automating API and backend testing workflows, ensuring robust and reliable system interactions.
Extensive experience integrating automated data testing processes into CI/CD pipelines for seamless build and deployment cycles.
Strong programming skills in Python, with additional experience in SQL and scripting for data manipulation and validation.
Familiarity with Great Expectations (or similar), Postman, and synthetic data generation frameworks.
Expertise in identifying testing gaps, proposing enhancements, and fostering a culture of data quality and continuous improvement across teams.
Familiarity with testing live video streaming solutions, focusing on performance, low latency, and seamless user experiences would be advantageous
