Department OverviewThe Video Embedded Software Engineering Team at Motorola Solutions (MSI) delivers firmware for embedded devices such as in-car video systems, fixed video and body worn cameras. Working in close collaboration with other departments, engineers in this team excel at developing applications and drivers under Linux, and have a variety of backgrounds and specializations. The team uses modern C++ to develop highly reusable code, and utilize state-of-the-art systems and tools throughout the development life cycle.
Job Description
• Motorola Solutions engineer design mission-critical communications products and services to public safety and commercial customers around the world.
• As software platform engineer, you will work on Linux Platform, device driver, Filesystem, boot sequence and platform porting for custom hardware Optimize Linux kernel for performance.
• Full involvement in software development cycle including specification definition, architecture design, implementation, testing and review.
• A Development Team member in Agile Scrum team.
• Innovative and versatile engineer who embraces new technology challenges.
Basic Requirements
Master’s/Bachelor’s Degree in Computer/Electronic/Telecommunications Engineering or Computer Science
Understand the fundamental structure of Embedded Linux kernel from the perspective of porting a Linux based Operating System execution environment over some standard hardware platforms including board bring up and manage the execution of Embedded Applications
Proficient in different device driver framework of Linux
Understand management of memory resources in Linux Kernel, interrupt handling, event handling and synchronization mechanism in Linux, Linux Kernel sub system infrastructure, Management of CPU resource, file system and file resources in Linux Kernel.
More than 3 years of working experience
Excellent in C/C++ programming
Experience in handling test equipment eg oscilloscope
Understanding of processor and hardware requirements around embedded Linux
Experience creating and implementing automated tests at the unit, integration and performance levels
Some experience with Git, JIRA, Continuous integration and Agile software development methods.
