About the Role

As an Senior Cloud Engineer in the Operational Excellence team you will help to achieve our mission which is to craft the culture of the Miro engineering team towards being more operationally and financially aware, making sensible decisions to protect the availability of our product without excessive cost.

In a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the Senior Cloud engineer play a crucial role in achieving this goal, holding accountability for operational excellence in managing cloud costs and resource by developing and implementing cost optimization strategies to analyze and optimize cloud usage. They work diligently to identify areas for cost savings and execute cost reduction measures while ensuring that spending stays within allocated budgets. Additionally, they collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, engineering, and operations, to align cloud spending priorities and goals.

What you’ll do

  • Fostering FinOps Program and Cost Awareness: evolve tooling and processes to run the FinOps program, fostering cost awareness across Miro.
  • Create and Drive Cost Saving Backlog: Collaborate with developers to create a backlog of cost-saving initiatives and implement them effectively.
  • Implement Cost Monitoring and Awareness Tools: Deploy cost monitoring tools and practices organization-wide to increase awareness of cloud spending.
  • Provide Data and Guidance to Engineering Teams: Work closely with engineering teams, providing data and guidance to optimize cloud usage and spending.
  • Build Partnership between Finance and Engineering: Foster collaboration between finance and engineering teams to develop cost-saving strategies that meet the needs of both parties.
  • Lead Cloud Infrastructure Budget Discussions: Take the lead in discussions and forecasts related to cloud infrastructure budgets.
  • Measure and Manage Cloud Infrastructure Costs: Partner with finance and engineering teams to measure and manage cloud infrastructure costs effectively.

What you’ll need

  • 5+ Years Experience in AWS: demonstrated expertise with AWS cloud services and infrastructure.
  • 3+ Years Experience in Cloud Architecture and System Design: experience designing and architecting cloud solutions.
  • 2+ Years Experience in Cloud Governance: hands-on experience in implementing cloud governance strategies.
  • Experience in Cultural Development and Community Engagement: ability to drive cultural development and engagement within a diverse organization.
  • Experience in FinOps Framework: familiarity with FinOps principles and frameworks.
  • Experience in Cost Management Solutions: proficiency in using cost management solutions such as AWS CUDOS, CloudZero, etc.
