Business Overview
Novanta’s Corporate and Shared Services teams play an important role in executing the company’s strategic mission and operations. Included in Corporate and Shared Services are the business functions including Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Development and Corporate Marketing. The Corporate and Shared Services teams work closely with all Novanta business units to support operating initiatives contributing to the organization’s financial success.
Summary
We are seeking to recruit an energetic, self-motivated individual to join our global tax team. The individual will be based on Stockport, UK, reporting directly to the senior tax leadership in the US headquarters office.
This is a new role within the organization that requires a person who is a well-organized self-starter, willing to learn and willing to take increasing ownership of the Company’s UK tax matters.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee the Company’s UK tax compliance, including tax planning, UK statutory accounting for income taxes, and UK Pillar Two calculations.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of direct tax returns.
- Manage UK information required for inclusion into the Company’s global US GAAP tax provision reporting.
- Support the Company’s CbCr reporting requirements.
- Oversee and manage direct tax compliance and reporting in Europe and Asia.
- Review and present local tax results, manage direct tax controversies, and oversee external tax advisor engagements to ensure deadlines are met efficiently.
General Tasks
- Maintain strict compliance with the quality, environmental and occupational health and safety regulations and implementation of the instructions of the quality, environmental management and/or occupational health and safety officer.
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
- Strong UK technical tax skills, especially in corporation tax.
- Experience managing complex tax matters.
- Strong knowledge of emerging tax laws as well as optimum tax planning and saving provisions.
- Strong collaborator and willing to advise and support, as needed about tax advisory project work, transfer pricing, M&A, and indirect tax issues.
- The preferred candidate should be a qualified ACA / CTA or equivalent with around 7 years’ PQE gained in either a large accounting firm or in house with strong UK direct tax knowledge.
Travel Requirements
- Travel as needed to sites globally.

- Mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.
- Ability to use vison to read computer screen and read printed materials.
