Position Overview:

The Senior Network Engineering Manager will lead a globally distributed team of network engineers responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of global telecommunications and network environments. Qualified candidates will have a diverse background of technical experience, demonstrated project management acumen and customer service skills. This role will report to the Director of Global IT Infrastructure.

Location: Hybrid or Remote: USA, United Kingdom, Portugal

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to global network engineering team.
  • Develop new team skills outside of comfort zone.
  • Act to resolve issues which prevent the team working effectively.
  • Responsible for planning and coordinating activities pertaining to the day-to-day operation of network environment.
  • Identify and drive cost savings opportunities to reduce cost of service and eliminate technical debt.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with other IT leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs; ensures cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs and is able to respond with agility to changing business priorities.
  • Participates in the assessment of external and internal technology capabilities with a focus on suitability for integration with the existing IT environment.
  • Provides leadership, coaching and direction to the IT operations management team and staff.
  • Participate in committees to drive the development of enterprise standards, governance processes and performance metrics to ensure network infrastructure delivers value to the enterprise.

Competencies:

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to communicate a vision that inspires and motivates team and aligns to the IT and business strategy.
  • Experience and working knowledge switching/routing in a large and complex network; SDWAN, MPLS, wireless, network management tools, traffic shaping / QoS, BGP and firewalls.
  • Working knowledge of MS Teams Phone calling, Cisco Unified Call Manager, and SIP/PSTN connectivity.
  • Working knowledge of Secure Access Service Edge, Zero Trust, and network authentication environments.
  • Working knowledge of Cloud platforms and the technologies that make them work. (Azure, AWS, O365, Infrastructure as code). 
  • Working knowledge of IT Service Management concepts and how it is implemented across different operating models.
  • Experience in the delivery of global enterprise infrastructure solutions.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to senior leaders.
  • Strong vendor management and partner relation skills to identify and leverage resources internal and external to the enterprise to enhance capabilities that support business objectives.

Employees Supervised:

8-10 direct reports

Minimum Requirements:

  • 8 or more years of experience in IT or related job field.
  • Ability to travel globally up to 10% of the time, internationally or domestically.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 years of leadership experience
  • IT Infrastructure experience in global enterprise environment.
  • Merger, acquisition, and divestiture experience
  • Manufacturing experience
