Company Description

The new role sits within our Wise Platform Product Risk and Compliance team, which is part of the 1st Line of Defense (1LOD). This strategic addition comes in response to the rapid growth of our product offerings and the increasing regulatory pressure and expectation we face. We’re looking for a Product Compliance Manager to join this growing team. This role is hands-on, a unique opportunity to have an impact on Wise’s mission, grow as a product and compliance manager, and help save millions more people money.

Job Description

Wise has already pioneered new ways for people to transfer money across borders and currencies. Your mission is to enable our Wise Platform team to launch new products and partnerships globally, through a deep understanding of the regulatory requirements and regulators’ expectations around them. Wise Platform utilises Wise’s infrastructure to offer innovative solutions to established financial services companies and online platforms.


This is a first line Product Compliance role, embedded in the Wise Platform team. Your scope will include:


Product design: 

  • Empower product teams to build compliant-by-design new products and services by advising them on how to implement regulatory requirements in a customer-oriented way.

  • Ensure that regulatory analysis of new products and services are performed and well-documented, and that related controls are implemented consistently prior to launch. 


Regulatory risk and remediation:

  • Collaborate with regional 1st and 2nd line compliance and product teams, to ensure remediation plans are agreed upon across lines and executed timely.

  • Advise on regulatory risk and relative priorities of remediation projects.


Third Parties Relationships: 

  • Represent Wise in external meetings with banking partners and regulators, being able to clearly and effectively articulate Wise Platform’s offering. 


This role will give you the opportunity to: 

  • Grow your hands-on Fintech knowledge at full speed; 

  • Keep compliance right at the heart of the product development cycle, in a fast-moving environment; and

  • Be empowered to identify regulatory issues and take a lead in their remediation. fast-moving environment.

Qualifications


  • Min 7 years of relevant experience working in a financial institution, fintech or consulting firm, with an understanding of the UK and/or EU regulatory environment.

  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into actionable business requirements, even where regulations are ambiguous, and present and defend the chosen approach.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with Product Managers and Engineers.

  • Can prioritise and re-prioritise in fast-moving and ambiguous situations, drive and deliver projects from inception to completion.

  • [Desirable] Experience of Payments or Correspondent Banking.
