ROLE SUMMARY:
The Senior Strategy & Operations Manager drives the operating rhythm, strategy execution, portfolio oversight, and organisational effectiveness across a complex, global change and run landscape. You will orchestrate cross‑functional delivery, ensure governance and financial rigor, and enable leaders to achieve strategic outcomes with transparency and speed. The role combines strategic planning, delivery excellence, and data‑driven decision‑making at scale.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
1) Strategy & Operating Rhythm
- Partner with the Director of Data Solutions and leadership team to translate vision into clear objectives, goals, milestones, and measurable outcomes, maintaining an integrated quarterly/annual operating cadence.
- Run the operation agenda: supporting prioritisation, decision logs, action tracking, and issue escalation—ensuring alignment across product, engineering, finance, project and operations.
- Prepare high‑quality executive materials and narratives for senior forums, ensuring messages are tailored, concise, and data‑driven.
2) Portfolio, Delivery & Continuous Improvement
- Oversee a cross‑functional portfolio (change and run), integrating plans, dependencies and critical paths; evaluate trade‑offs between scope, cost, urgency, risk and stakeholder value.
- Drive standards and delivery excellence, ensuring adherence to Group/ Capital Markets change management forward planning and governance requirements.
- Champion continuous improvement based on delivery metrics and retrospectives; identify early indicators of delivery risk and coordinate deep‑dive reviews where needed.
- Embed operational resilience and process optimisation principles across change and BAU to raise stability, client experience, and speed to deliver value.
3) Financial & Resource Management
- Manage the investment planning cycle for Data Solutions: validate financial forecasts, and monitor return on investment against business cases for a £15million spend.
- Maintain a forward resource demand/supply view (internal, vendor, and location strategy) aligned to priorities; recommend reallocations to optimise portfolio outcomes.
4) Governance, Risk & Assurance
- Ensure strict adherence to LSEG Change Framework, with complete, accurate artefacts including plans, cost/benefits, resourcing profiles, RAID, status.
- Coordinate portfolio‑level risk management, proactively mitigating delivery, operational and regulatory risks; align with Risk/Audit/PMO where applicable.
- When required, lead targeted delivery assurance interventions and remediation planning in partnership with internal and external specialists.
5) Stakeholder Engagement & Communications
- Act as a primary point of coordination across senior stakeholders (Product, Technology, Finance, Operations, Risk, HR, PMO, key vendors), ensuring clarity of scope, dependencies, and outcomes across both FX and EQ venues.
- Use data‑driven insights to facilitate prioritisation and negotiate trade‑offs; deliver regular, timely, and audience‑appropriate communications.
- Represent Data Solutions in relevant governance and inter‑department forums; build and maintain trusted relationships across global locations and cultures.
6) People Leadership & Culture
- Lead by example on LSEG values, encouraging a culture of accountability, learning, inclusion, and high performance; mentor and coach matrixed teams and delivery managers.
- Support talent planning and hiring, role clarity, and recognition; cultivate an environment that embraces innovation and continuous improvement.
7) Insights, Analytics & Tooling
- Establish standard dashboards and semi‑automated reporting (e.g., portfolio health, risk/benefits), ensuring a single source of truth for leadership decisions.
- Enable data‑led reviews of change/run performance (throughput, quality, stability, client impact) and drive targeted improvement initiatives.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Essential
- Extensive programme/portfolio leadership experience delivering complex, multi‑stakeholder initiatives in a global, matrixed environment (typically 10+ years).
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead across business and technology, managing across time zones and cultures.
- Strong financial acumen and resource planning.
- Expert knowledge of governance, risk, and project/programme methodologies (Agile/Waterfall/Hybrid; SAFe; PMP/Prince2 or equivalent).
- Consistent track record of data‑driven reporting and analysis; advanced Excel/PowerPoint with ability to create executive‑level materials.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- Background in financial markets/data, with familiarity across product, engineering, and operations domains.
- Experience implementing delivery assurance and remediation on complex programmes.
- Prior experience with portfolio tooling (e.g., Clarity, Asana, Jira/Confluence, Power BI).
