The role 

  • Join the team that creates PlayStation development tools used by thousands of game developers, testers, artists, and producers to make every PlayStation game.
  • Working with experienced colleagues, you will play a fundamental role in developing and improving our distributed build acceleration and data processing tools running on local and cloud based clusters.
  • The ideal candidate should have a strong desire to continue to learn, to develop and to explore ideas; to demonstrate strong design and coding skills, and, above all, have a passion for quality.

What you'll be doing

  • Work with team mates to analyze customer requirements to produce maintainable designs.
  • Participate in design, code, and documentation reviews.
  • Work with team mates to agree estimates for tasks.
  • Write code and tests to implement features whilst incorporating feedback from code reviews.
  • Provide input to technical writers producing documentation.
  • Work with support engineers on customer issues.

What we are looking for 

Must have

  • BSc in Computer Science, a similar degree or equivalent experience.
  • A good academic background is beneficial, however an ability to demonstrate relevant experience and capabilities will be of equal merit to academia.
  • Strong, practical C/C++ skills.
  • A solid understanding of software testing techniques including writing unit tests.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills; a good standard of spoken and written English.

Nice to have

  • Experience of developing high performance / multi-threaded or distributed applications on Windows and/or Linux.
  • Experience with other languages including Python, C#, and Javascript.
  • Experience with a variety of build systems such as Ninja and CMake.
  • Strong UI / UX design skills.
  • Front-end web development using HTML / CSS / JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of back-end web server technologies such as HTTP.
  • Knowledge of database technologies, particularly SQLite.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Version Control systems (including Git).
