We’re seeking an experienced C# .NET Software Engineer to join our Technology & Data Teams based in either Haywards Heath, West Sussex, or Salford Quays, Manchester.

To excel in this role, you’ll be highly proficient in C# with a solid working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as familiarity with a Single Page Application (SPA) framework, preferably Angular. An understanding of SQL is highly advantageous. You’ll work within a Scrum team across the full development stack, dedicated to building and supporting First Centrals bespoke application environment as well as developing our DevOps culture, tools and approach.

We value flexible working arrangements, so you’ll primarily work from home, with one day a week in the office at either Haywards Heath, West Sussex, or Salford Quays, Manchester. However, if you prefer to spend more time in the office, that’s perfectly fine with us too.

Core skills we’re looking for to succeed in the role: 

  • Web development, particularly in an SPA language (Angular)
  • Proven experience developing within a C# .NET environment
  • Excellent knowledge of SQL
  • Ability to apply Agile and Lean practices into your work

Powering the business with the right tools

What’s involved:

  • You’ll provide First Central with technical expertise in developing the Group’s core software applications
  • You’ll develop technical capabilities to forward the Group Core Applications as directed by the Development Manager
  • You’ll provide technical expertise into the Service Delivery Function that supports the Group Core Applications
  • You’ll mentor a team of Developers in delivering technical solutions through the common approach, ensuring that the necessary resource and skills are available
  • You’ll support relationships with the other areas of IT to ensure that the development team works in harmony with the other change and IT functions.
  • You’ll work with the Chief Architect to ensure Solutions support the architectural direction of 1st Central technology
  • You’ll work to the agreed Prioritisation of requirements for development and to the agreed delivery dates against these requirements by understanding the business priorities, the technical capability and the strategies of both the business and technology
  • You’ll design and produce any necessary supporting documentation to enable IT to manage new components/ processes
  • You’ll identify and feedback any potential improvements to the organisations' technology architecture
  • You’ll comply with the requirements, and act in accordance with, the Group Code of Conduct and Fitness and Propriety policies at all times
  • You’ll ensure compliance with Company Policies, Values and guidelines and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times.

  • Extensive knowledge of and experience of Microsoft .net development
  • Knowledge of a structured yet agile approach to development
  • Expertise in .net development including popular frameworks
