What you’ll be doing.As a Software Engineer within the Research Microscopy Solutions (RMS) department at ZEISS, you will play a crucial role in delivering software for a range of industry leading electron microscopes. This hands-on position involves working on cutting-edge optical technology, ensuring that our products perform to the highest standards and meet customer needs.

  • Develop and maintain software in C++ (90%) with some work in C# and .NET, focusing on multi-layer architecture for automation, image processing, and big data solutions.
  • Collaborate closely within an Agile, cross-site team, actively participating in planning, requirements gathering, and triage using DevOps practices.
  • Work alongside UX and architectural teams, ensuring highly complex technology is designed to be user-friendly and meets customer needs.
  • Utilize Visual Studio 2022, Windows, and GIT in a Windows-exclusive environment, working on SmartSEM—a multi-layer software suite integral to every system.
  • Contribute to test-driven development and requirements engineering.

Key Requirements

  • Proficiency in C++ (90%) with some experience in C#/.NET.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows development environment and tools (Visual Studio 2022, GIT).
  • Familiarity with Agile practices, DevOps, and cloud-based workflows.
  • Advantageous: MFC experience and prior work with software-hardware integration.
