Job Description:

We are currently looking for:

Structures Test - Rig Design & Stress Engineer 

Location: Filton, Bristol 

Contract: Full time, permanent, 37.5 hours per week

Duties:

  • Test Rig Concepts designed on time, cost & quality.

  • Prepare a pre-design (3D study) for specification release.

  • Perform detailed stress analysis activities

  • Lead work packages for external manufacturing and design to manufacture activities within the test centre perimeter

  • Integrate electrical, measurement and data system installation requirements.

  • Work with and be the key interface to other airbus business units & external test customers

  • Provide detailed designs and data transfer for manufacturing.

  •  Ensure a configuration management of drawings and 3D data.

  •  Provide specimen interface drawings.

  •  Ensure test means interfaces are compliant with specimen loading areas.

  • Support acceptance of test means after manufacturing.

  • Provide expertise during the assembly of the test means in the laboratory.

  • Coordinate all internal and external contributors/stakeholders/suppliers.

  • Anticipate, identify and manage risks & opportunities.

  • Participate in the Test Centre and weekly team meetings.

Our requirements:

  • Design of aeronautical structures or equivalent high precision structural engineering projects (e.g. civil, marine, test rigs)

  • 3D Design of complex engineering structures (CATIA V5 and/or 3DXperience).

  • Stress calculation and checking (hand calculations and/or FEM sizing tool).

  • Materials testing (optional)

  • Experience in managing suppliers or participating in supplier selection (optional)

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering or a related discipline (e.g. Aerospace, Structures, Materials, Physics).

  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken 

  • Independent and structured way of working

  • Ability to work in a team, resilience, flexibility

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 dependant on experience
