The Technical Game Designer will design, prototype, and implement mechanics for Robocraft 2. Responsibilities include working independently and with teams on PVE experiences, creating prototypes, articulating design concepts, and collaborating with multiple disciplines.
Freejam is looking for a highly creative and talented Technical Designer to join the team working on Robocraft 2. The successful candidate will experience in Unity and is able to rapidly design, prototype and implement mechanics and concepts. This is a full-time role and will be based on-site at our studio in Portsmouth.
Responsibilities:
- Work independently and as part of the team on the ideation and creation of PVE experiences, using our internal systems.
- Create prototypes independently and in collaboration with other designers
- Clearly articulate prototypes, design decisions, and concepts to internal stakeholders
- Contribute to strategic decisions, working with the design and product teams
- Align and collaborate with multiple disciplines and communicate the vision of gameplay features
- Has worked on at least 2 commercially shipped games from concept to release
- Has experience using scripting tools such as Blueprint or Unity Visual Scripting
- Can work independently and as part of a team on the ideation, prototyping and polish of PVE experiences
- Comfortable working with coders to extend our tools and engine functionality
- Able to create clean & reusable visual scripting elements
- Has knowledge of a wide variety of online PVE games and systems and how and why they work
- Exhibit excellent problem-solving skills
- Analyse playtests
Preferred:
- Experience with UGC systems
- Experience in F2P
- Experience with enemy design and behaviour trees
- Experience with coding in Unity and C#
- Experience utilising research and data to drive strategy and decision making
- Experience developing and in a multiplayer live service environment
