About the role:

As a Trainee QA Test Analyst, you will provide support to the QA Testing team, under the direction of the QA Testing Team Lead. In this entry-level role, you will be shadowing team members as an apprentice, testing systemic functionality to ensure it works as defined, while studying towards a professional qualification. Collaborating with fellow QA Test Analysts, you will support the delivery of quality test strategies for projects and create test cases to ensure that the full scope and coverage has been achieved with a full audit trail. You will adhere to the Testing Practices and Processes across the Solution Delivery business area.

Key responsibilities/what you’ll do:

·         Work with the team to ensure the quality of the testing being conducted in relation to the functional areas of the system and/or entire projects is adequate

·         Collaborate with all departments of the organisation to complete testing on behalf of internal and external customers

·         Support the maintenance and execution of manual test cases in accordance with the defined Project methodology, this will include exploratory testing

·         Work with the QA team to identify manual test cases which are suitable for automation and to define and input test data into the test environment, ensuring accuracy of data before use

·         Conduct Defect management and analysis, prioritising defects correctly in line with standard

·         Ensuring Risk Based Testing is carried out in accordance with Plan and Strategy

·         Provide input into test estimates, Test Approach and Test Report documentation

·         Attend Analysis/Design Review meetings for gathering information for future testing phases – shadowing Team Lead

·         Provide test support post-implementation

·         Maintain the first line of compliance defense by ensuring department/team/individual adherence to business processes and procedures that are designed to meet the regulatory standards set out in the relevant FCA rules and guidance

·         Communicate progress to all interested parties within the agreed timescales

·         Adhere to governance that is in place with regards risks, controls and all required documentation

·         Actively study for a recognised professional qualification

About the apprenticeship:

As a Trainee QA Test Analyst, you will develop the technical knowledge plus the professional skills and behaviours to work within the QA Testing team, gaining valuable work experience plus achieving a qualification through a structured apprenticeship programme to kick-start your career.

Through the level 4 Software Tester apprenticeship, you will learn and grow technical knowledge such as:

·         Software development fundamentals

·         Python Advanced, JavaScript, Java, C#, and ISTQB Foundation

·         Test planning, requirements review and test design

·         Test reporting

By the end of the apprenticeship, you will achieve your Level 4 Software Tester apprenticeship plus the ISTQB Foundation Certificate.Typically, the apprenticeship will take around 16 months to complete.

Requirements

·         To be at least 18 years old as of 1st September 2026

·         Be a UK/EEA citizen or have lived in the UK/EEA continuously for the last 3 years

·         To be eligible to work in the UK and not in full-time education

·         To have achieved, or predicted to achieve in 2026, a level 3 qualification, such as A-levels or equivalent

·         Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) grades A* to C (new grades 9 to 4)

·         You must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level in a similar subject

·         A basic understanding of coding is desirable
