Job Description

Your Mission

  • You will play a crucial role in enhancing our liquidity risk framework, identifying product liquidity risks, supporting our management policy and ensuring risk is well managed by our Treasury team. 

  • As part of 1LoD be a trusted advisor to the Treasury and Product teams by supporting new product launches, designing reporting capabilities and advising on appropriate risk appetite.

  • Help document, challenge and build an end to end view of our internal control environment to illustrate key risks, controls and processes. Your focus will be on Liquidity Risk and understanding all of the different drivers and products that impact Liquidity Risk at Wise.

  • Design and implement a full testing plan of liquidity controls both on an ongoing basis and using stressed scenarios.

  • Continually develop and improve Liquidity Key Risk Indicators as Wise grows.

  • Develop and improve internal liquidity attribution as well as designing forecasting methodology to optimise the use of our operating liquidity.

  • Partnering with 2LoD teams to support risk identification and assessment as part of ILAAP, helping to quantify the risks and propose control enhancements to manage them. 

  • Effectively support and challenge the product engineering, operations and product leadership teams on their journey to evolve and mature our risk and control environment. 

  • Work closely with Treasury teams during planning sessions to help guide and deliver on control design improvements. We love automation and our engineers will need your help to design the most efficient controls. 

  • Keep on track of control remediation findings and also monitor the progress for internal and external audit actions to ensure they are completed on time and actions are adequate to mitigate the inherent risk identified.

  • Chair the Liquidity Risk committee and input into the Assets and Liabilities Committee (ALCO) with senior representatives from Treasury, Corporate Treasury, Risk and Product teams. 

  • Although the role will primarily focus on liquidity risk, wWe are a close knit team that covers all Financial risks so there is an opportunity to also support and provide cover across Market and Credit Risk.

A bit about you:

  • Theory - You have a very good knowledge of the basics of internal controls. You are keen to learn more about Fintechs and the inner workings of an organisation dealing with high volume transactions. 

  • Financial Knowledge - you have a good understanding of liquidity risk and what an effective liquidity risk management framework looks like.

  • Practice - You have experience in understanding drivers that impact liquidity and controls that help manage the risk. You have an understanding of ILAAP.

  • Love getting things done - You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and take responsibility to do whatever needs doing to solve problems. You take a proactive approach in resolving complex issues. We get it done!

  • Commercial acumen - You understand the value of taking a balanced approach to risk and controls to support the growth of the business.

Our Treasury team is spread across the globe, but mainly in London and Tallinn, so there are some video calls and some travel involved for treasury wide initiatives.
