About the right team member

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Growth Marketing Manager to lead the planning and execution of the Japan market expansion at ClassPass. As a key member of the marketing team, you will be responsible for establishing and scaling the ClassPass brand in Japan, with a focus on localization and culturally-relevant strategies, while driving subscriber and revenue growth through effective collaboration with acquisition, lifecycle, and partner sales teams. The ideal candidate has previous experience launching and growing an international brand in Japan, possesses a solid understanding of marketing channels, metrics, and technology solutions, and has a proven track record of successful market launches and growth.

About the role

  • Design and implement a market strategy tailored for Japan, with a focus on brand launch, optimizing channel mix, and localizing content and approach. 
  • Be the voice of Japanese customers and partners, providing insights on target audience preferences and ensuring that the global strategy resonates effectively in the market. 
  • Conduct local user surveys and customer research to gather insights on market preferences and cultural nuances, ensuring marketing strategies resonate with Japanese consumers. 
  • Plan and execute local marketing campaigns, using test-and-learn tactics to identify unique channels for growth, in alignment with global acquisition strategies. 
  • Oversee and manage social media accounts to engage the local audience and build brand presence. 
  • Drive growth by building strategic partnerships with local businesses and affiliate networks. 
  • Identify, collaborate with, and manage relationships with influencers and media outlets to increase brand awareness and conversions. 
  • Work closely with global paid marketing and creative teams, supporting audience segmentation and developing localized assets for the Japanese market. 
  • Collaborate with product and CRO teams to ensure the website and in-app experience are optimized for Japanese users. 

Skills & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus. 
  • 4+ years of experience in growth marketing with a focus on international expansion, specifically launching or scaling brands in Japan. 
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in Japanese is essential. 
  • Proven ability to execute marketing campaigns in Japan with minimal oversight, covering the entire customer lifecycle. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across global and local teams.
  • Analytical mindset, able to monitor and report on KPIs, test results and campaign performance
  • Strategic and creative thinker, with the ability to adapt global marketing strategies to fit local market demands.
