Job Description

To be accountable for the execution effectiveness and the results of key business projects, including introduction of the project deliverables.To sustain the ongoing manufacture of high quality products and spares with respect to compliance, safety, quality, delivery and cost targets;To recommend & develop, modify and implement product design iterations and manufacturing process improvements to support the company’s strategic improvement targets and in line with customer requests;To lead and apply engineering expertise to engineering activities.To propose and implement production process improvement to support the company’s continuous improvement targets.Oversees as the Core Team Lead all aspects of planning and day-to-day execution of the project:Leads the development of the integrated project plan, including budget, resource plans, and risk management plan.Facilitates strategic alignment during planning by ensuring agreement on the resulting design and development path and industrialization focus.Drives project integration and effective execution by identifying and actively managing interdependencies across sub-projects, deliverables, milestones and tasks, including ensuring that the resource implications of any changes are understood.Drives robust cross-functional trade-offs and decisions. Runs effective meetings with the right people and clearly documents conclusions (meeting minutes).Clarifies functional priorities and deliverables within the project, including resource needs and documentation requirements.Makes critical path activities and decisions visible and timely during planning and in execution, in order to minimize delays.Drives cross-functional accountability for delivery based on the project contract.Holds core team members accountable for their commitmentsMentors the core team members on how to highlight and address risks and issues within their functional and/or sub-teams.Ensures effective project communications and buy-in by stakeholders.Communicates project progress, risks and issues in a timely and transparent manner, focusing on management actions and decisions required to drive best project outcomes.Documents and communicates project decisions so that execution is always aligned with latest direction.Leads the project risk management process (with the Core/Extended team):Ensures that risks are identified, and appropriate risk response plans are put in place for critical risks.Ensures that the integrated project plan is adjusted for risk prior to baselining.Keeps the sponsor and applicable Functional Managers abreast of critical risks and team’s ability to overcome them.Engages the sustaining governance core team for support to define trade-offs and risk management scenarios that produce the best business and technical outcomes.Facilitates project issue resolution:Leads non-technical problem-solving.Elevates issues to functional management, sponsor, or the PDT, as necessary.Tracks resolution of issues and manages the project issue log.Develops the project Core Team and evaluates performance:Provides coaching and mentoring to Core Team Members.Works with Functional Managers to resolve performance issues and initiate core team member changes as needed.Provides input to the performance objectives and reviews of Core Team Members.Develops/manages team rewards and incentives (with sponsor).Applies standardized project management practices and tools on the project.Works with the Core Team to create the project schedule.Aligns the (master) schedule with functional (sub) schedules when they exist.Manages the tactical details necessary to keep the project on track, e.g., action items, issues, decisions.Keeps project documentation in order.Manages the risk register and keeps critical risks visible to the team.Supports team communications by providing ongoing status and reporting within the team and with stakeholders per the communications plan.
